Monthly Dashboard July PROTECTION The number of Syrian refugees in the region stood at 5.16 million at the end of July. There are now almost 3 million Syrian refugees registered refugees in, over 1 million in, some 660,000 in, almost 245,000 in and above 120,000 in, indicating the generosity of host countries across the region. Highlights across the region in July include: In, the Outreach Volunteers (OV) programme led to improved community engagement through new initiatives on community capacity building, mobilization, awareness raising, and information dissemination. Coordination continues with camp management to support the development of an effective and user friendly community feedback mechanism. In, in response to fires in the Bekaa which destroyed tents in informal settlements, 3RP Partners established safe spaces and recreational activities for children, as well as providing case management services to children in need. Gender-based Violence (GBV) services were provided to women and adolescent girls, including distribution of dignity kits. In, multi-sectoral case management services assisted 931 children, adolescents and youth during July. Monthly Dashboard July FOOD SECURITY During, food sector partners have reached approximately 2.4 million individuals with food assistance through cash, voucher or in kind modality. Over 3,000 individuals food and agricultural livelihoods support while almost 11,500 individuals have been supported to improve nutritional practices. Highlights across the region in July include: In, a resilience pilot project to train Syrian refugees in digital skills and online freelancing was launched at the American University of Sulaymaniyah, with 100 refugees from Arbat camp being recruited and trained until 30 August. In, Food Sector partners completed a review of their current targeting model for the general food assistance programme to Syrian refugees, examining changes in refugee vulnerability over time. Three potential models were developed to inform future targeting decisions. Monthly Dashboard July EDUCATION As at the end of July, some 930,000 Syrian children across the region are enrolled in formal education in camps and host communities. Additionally, over 117,200 Syrian children are enrolled in informal education. Highlights across the region in July include: In, 3RP partners implemented a range of activities to prepare for the upcoming school year in September. Some 2,600 Syrian refugee children have enrolled in a summer language programme, the 10-week course conducted in Turkish and Arabic aims to support Syrian children's entry into the Turkish primary school system. In, discussions and preparations for a back-to-learning campaign are ongoing in coordination with education partners and the Ministry of Education (MoE) at district levels. 3RP partners continued their advocacy efforts with the MoE to deal with challenges facing refugee families wishing to enrol their children in public schools for the coming academic year. In, Learning Support Services continue to be offered in Makani centers. Monthly Dashboard July HEALTH AND NUTRITION By the end of July, approximately 1.6 million primary health care consultations were provided, representing over 42 per cent of the overall target, and over 98,500 referrals were made to secondary or tertiary health care. Highlights across the region in July include: In, the number of children under the age of five receiving a routine vaccination saw a sharp increase of 51,487 in July, compared to the month before. This brings the total reach since the beginning of the year to about 94,000. In, during July at the Zakho border crossing between and Syria, immunization teams vaccinated 1,841 children against polio and 731 against measles. Routine vaccinations is available in all nine refugee camps in. Monthly Dashboard July BASIC NEEDS The continued strategic priority for the Basic Needs Sector is to provide assistance to meet the ongoing basic needs of Syrian refugees, based on a multi-sectoral household profiling and identification methodology, specific to each country. Until July, 208,925 households have core relief items in kind, which is just over 93 per cent of the targeted population. Approximately 375,000 households have unconditional, sector specific or emergency cash assistance and over 203,600 households seasonal support through cash or in kind assistance. Highlights across the region in July include: In, 3RP Partners, initiated a Vulnerability Assessment (CIVA) exercise in three governorates. The assessment aims to provide a better understanding of the socio-economic conditions of Syrian refugees in the Kurdistan Region of, so as to better inform programming. Monthly Dashboard July SHELTER 3RP partners priority regarding the Shelter Sector continues to be the provision of adequate, affordable and sustainable housing options for refugees living in host communities. For refugees in camps, 3RP partners focus on rehabilitation efforts to improve the infrastructure of the camp and upgrade shelters in order to contribute to sustainable living. During, almost 13,000 households in camps have assistance for shelter and shelter upgrades, while outside of camps over 21,500 households assistance for shelter and shelter upgrades. Highlights across the region in July include: In Dohuk in, camp management has launched a multi-functional team (MFT) to conduct a shelter rapid assessment situation in Domiz 1 camp in Duhok (the largest Syrian refugee camp in with some 8,500 households). The team advised to upgrade 1,500 shelter units (1,200 in Domiz 1 and 300 in Domiz 2). Monthly Dashboard July WASH So far in, over 1.1 million individuals have benefited from access to adequate quantity of safe water through improved longer-term water systems. Approximately 331,000 people have gained access to appropriate sanitation facilities and services, and over 505,300 people have access to adequate quantity of safe water through temporary provision. Highlights across the region in July include: In, the construction of the Za'atari water network reached 22 per cent completion by late July, including 95 kilometers of pipeline for the water network and six kilometers of the wastewater network constructed. In ian host communities, the Kufranja dam project was completed leading to the increase of the daily amount of water available for 38,620 people, from 22 liters per person per day to 63 liters per person per day. In, water demands remain high during the hot summer weather and work has begun in Qushtapa refugee camp in Erbil, to dig a new borehole that will improve supply of water for the approximately 7,300 Syrians in the camp. Monthly Dashboard July LIVELIHOODS & SOCIAL COHESION Since the start of, Livelihoods Partners assisted 16,934 refugees and host community members with short-term and/or longterm employment opportunities and 64,101 youth and adults in increasing their employability through job training, internships, job placement and language courses. In addition, 19,398 host community members and refugees have participated in community based activities to promote social cohesion. Highlights across the region in July include: In, the mechanism that was used to allocate work permits and manage the leave system in Za'atari camp was presented and once the technicalities are solved, the new Za'atari Office for Employment (ZOE) and the leave mechanism at the main gate will be tested and fully functional. Private sector representatives have been vising both camps in to locate eligible individuals for employment opportunities in host communities, including Carrefour in Za'atari, Pine Tree garment factory in Azraq. Furthermore, job fairs are to be offered at both camps on a continuous basis. In addition, the Ministry of Economy and Trade (MoET) in organized the first SME forum on 11th of July, which about 300 representatives from the government, the private sector and development partners attended.
