The approval of Amy Boyer as a long-term substitute business teacher at the high school effective August 15, 2017 through June 7, 2018 or the end of the 2017-2018 school year, at a rate of $100 per day for days 1-20, $110 per day for days 21-45, and the balance at Bachelor s, Step 1, of the KATA/KASD contract. 2. SPECIAL ED CONTRACT It is the recommendation of the Administration that the Board of School Directors approve the Agreement with BCIU to provide Special Education Services to the District during the 2017-18 school year per the attached. d. IDEA FUNDING AGREEMENT - It is the recommendation of the Administration that the Board of School Directors approve the Agreement with BCIU to distribute IDEA funds to our District per the attached. e. AGREEMENT FOR AUDITING SERVICES - It is the recommendation of the Administration that the Board of School Directors approve extending the services of Herbein + Company, Inc. to provide annual audit services to our District through 6/30/19 per the attached. f. BUS/VAN ROUTES - It is the recommendation of the administration that the Board of School Directors approve the bus and van routes for the 2017-2018 school year, and to allow the transportation coordinator and/or designee to make any necessary changes to the existing routes as deemed appropriate throughout the 2017-2018 school year, with exception of changes that involve additional costs or the complete deletion of a route. g. BCIU BEHIND-THE-WHEEL PROGRAM - It is the recommendation of the administration that the Board of School Directors approve permission for the Berks County Intermediate Unit (BCIU) to provide Behind-the-Wheel instruction to district students that register for the program for 2017-2018 school year.. h. ASSESSMENT APPEAL RESOLUTION - It is the recommendation of the administration that the Board of School Directors approve the Assessment Appeal Resolution per the attached. i. DISTRICT DENTIST - It is the recommendation of the administration that the Board of School Directors approve Dr. Alan J. Robertson, DDS, as the School District Dentist at a cost of $5.00 per student exam for the 2017-18 school year. j. POLICY 707: USE OF SCHOOL FACILITIES - It is the recommendation of the administration that the Board of School Directors approve the first reading of Policy 707 Use of School Facilities. k. BCIU FLIGHT TEAM AGREEMENT - It is the recommendation of the administration that the Board of School Directors approve the BCIU Flight Team Agreement for the 2017-18 school year per the attached. l. CONFERENCE REQUEST - It is the recommendation of the administration that the Board of School Directors approve employee #1753 to attend the NAfME All National Music Festival on November 26-29n 2017 in Orlando, FL,, at a cost of $1,374.05. FIELD HOCKEY COOPERATIVE SPONSORSHIP - It is the recommendation of the administration that the Board of School Directors approve entering into a field hockey cooperative sponsorship for KASD middle school students with Brandywine Heights Area School District being the host school for the 2017-2018 school year. Our district is responsible for transportation of KASD students participating in the program. n. KIDSPEACE AGREEMENT - It is the recommendation of the administration that the Board of School Directors approve the agreement with KidsPeace National Centers, Inc. for private academic programs for the period of August 28, 2017 (or the date of admission) through June 6, 2018 (or the end of the 2017-2018 school year), at a cost of $161.53 per day (no change in rate from last year). o. GLAD TIDINGS LEASE RENEWAL - It is the recommendation of the administration that the Board of School Directors approve the renewal of the lease with Glad Tidings Church for space at Kutztown Area Middle School on Sunday mornings for the period 9/8/17-9/7/18. p. Minutes of the KUTZTOWN AREA SCHOOL DISTRICT Board of Directors Meeting Monday, August 7, 2017, 7:30 p.m. The Board of Directors of Kutztown Area School District met for a regular board meeting on Monday, August 7, 2017 at 7:30 p.m., at the Kutztown Area High School, pursuant to due notice to board members and the public. President Ziegler opened the meeting with a moment of silence and Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. He asked everyone to sign the attendance book and mark the topic of comment next to his/her name. Kutztown Good News McClure Presentation Stadium Renovation Motion made by Michael Hess, seconded by Randy Burch, to approve the following personnel items: 1. The approval of Ryan Williams as a food/mail delivery and maintenance employee, effective August 8, 2017 at a rate of $13.59 per hour. 4. The approval of Brian Barrell as a part-time (no benefits) KASD van driver, effective August 8, 2017, at a rate of $13.20 per hour. 5. The approval of the following classroom aides/paraeducators as substitute teachers for the 2017-2018 school year at a rate of $100 per day for days 1-20 and $110 per day for days 21 and thereafter: Nora E. Audit Audit (IGA) of the Kutztown Area School District facilities at no expense to the District. Roll call vote: Yes 7 No 0 Absent 2 (Johnson, Nolte) Motion carried. Superintendent Evaluation and Compensation Motion made by Al Darion, seconded by Jim Shrawder, to approve the 2017-2018 salary for Dr. George, F. Fiore of $163,525 as superintendent, effective July 1, 2017. The new salary is based on a commendable performance rating in the recently completed annual review by the Board of School Directors. Conference Motion made by Al Darion, seconded by Jim Shrawder, to approve employee #1420 to attend the PA State Principal s Requests Conference on October 14-16, 2017 in Pittsburgh, PA, at a cost of $979. The approval of Amy Boyer as a long-term substitute business teacher at the high school effective August 15, 2017 through June 7, 2018 or the end of the 2017-2018 school year, at a rate of $100 per day for days 1-20, $110 per day for days 21-45, and the remainder at Bachelor s, Step 1, of the KATA/KASD contract. 2. The approval of Karen Manwiller as a full-time special education paraeducator at Kutztown Elementary School, effective August 28, 2017, at a rate of $10.98 per hour. 3. The approval of Ryan Williams as a food/mail delivery and maintenance employee, effective August 8, 2017 at a rate of $13.59 per hour. 4. The approval of Brian Barrell as a part-time (no benefits) KASD van driver, effective August 8, 2017, at a rate of $13.20 per hour. 5. The approval of the following classroom aides/paraeducators as substitute teachers for the 2017-2018 school year at a rate of $100 per day for days 1-20 and $110 per day for days 21 and thereafter: Nora E. Superintendent Evaluation and Compensation Motion made by Al Darion, seconded by Jim Shrawder, to approve the 2017-2018 salary for Dr. George, F. Fiore of $163,525 as superintendent, effective July 1, 2017. The new salary is based on a commendable performance rating in the recently completed annual review by the Board of School Directors.
