MINUTES NORTH FRANKLIN SCHOOL DISTRICT BOARD OF DIRECTORS Monday, October 9, 2017 5:30 pm District Office Boardroom 1. CALL TO ORDER/FLAG SALUTE The meeting was called to order by Chair Booker at 5:30 pm with Mrs. Hailey, Mr. Fox, Mr. Utecht and Mrs. Walker present. 2. SET AGENDA ACTION Mr. Fox moved, Mrs. Hailey seconded, to approve the agenda as presented. Motion passed. 3. RECOGNITION OF VISITORS Chair Booker welcomed those in attendance. 4. REPORTS A. Business Manager Report Mrs. Sital reviewed the Enrollment Report for October 2017. B. Board of Director Reports Mrs. Booker reported that she, Mr. Utecht and Mrs. Walker attended the recent City of Connell Candidate Meet and Greet. Mr. Utecht reported that he attended the Missoula Children s Theater performance at Connell Elementary and it went very well and was well attended. C. Superintendent Report There was no superintendent report. D. Elementary School Reports Connell Elementary Dr. Schmutz reported that Missoula Children s Theatre went really well and there was great participation. He also reported that conferences are coming up on October 25 th and 26 th and the Veteran s Day Concert is on November 9 th at 1:30 pm. Mesa Elementary Mrs. Morrill reported that the Mesa Elementary Open House went really well. She reported that PBIS is going well and they are also starting the class of the month program. Mrs. Morrill spoke on the flower beds that were redone as part of an eagle project, the ukuleles that are being donated, and the new drinking fountains that are being purchased through donations and the CPT group. Basin City Elementary Mrs. Flatau distributed and reviewed an overview of the PBIS program. She also spoke on the awards recognition assemblies where they recognize students of the month, class of the month, raffle drawings for bobcat bucks, math team recognition and other important information. Mrs. Flatau reported that the annual Walk-a-Thon is on Wednesday, October 11 th starting at 4:30 pm, and this year is the 10 year anniversary. She also distributed information and spoke on the new CIA reading program. 4
5. GENERAL DISCUSSION ITEMS A. Construction Updates Mr. Taylor spoke on the front entry of Mesa Elementary being redone. Mr. Gregg provided an update on the Noble Fields Concession Building. He also reported that the CHS Student Center is scheduled to bid on October 19 th. Discussion ensued. B. Resolution No. 478 Transfer from General Fund to Transportation Vehicle Fund Mrs. Sital reviewed Resolution No. 478 Transfer from General Fund to Transportation Vehicle Fund. Mr. Utecht moved, Mr. Fox seconded, to approve Resolution No. 478 Transfer from General Fund to Transportation Vehicle fund as presented. Motion passed. C. Levy Mr. Taylor provided an overview of the upcoming levy, including the timing of when levy dollars are funded and the new requirements. Discussion ensued. D. Calendar of Events 6. CONSENT AGENDA - ACTION Wire Transfer...201700013 through 201700014...$1,638.83 Accounts Payable...120743 through 120749...$10,482.20 AP ACH Settlement...171800046 through 171800047...$721.60 Mrs. Hailey moved, Mrs. Walker seconded, to approve the minutes of the September 25, 2017 Regular Meeting and Accounts Payable as presented. Motion passed. 7. PERSONNEL ACTION A. Recommendations to Hire 1. Betsy Aleman, Food Service Department Clerk, CHS 2. Victor Guzman, Para Educator, CHS 3. Maria Corona, Para Educator, ECC B. Supplemental Contracts 1. George Farrah, 11 Additional Days, PJHS Principal 2. James Freitag, 11 Additional Days, CHS Assistant Principal 3. Nathan Schmutz, 11 Additional Days, CE Principal 4. Kelsey Bailey, Teacher Mentor, ME 5. Certificated Longevity Contracts (see attached list) Mrs. Walker moved, Mrs. Hailey seconded, to approve the Personnel Action Items as presented. Motion passed. 8. FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS Changes to State compensation and levy will be discussed at a future meeting. Chair Booker adjourned the meeting into Executive Session at 6:45 pm to review the performance of public employees. She expects to reconvene the meeting to regular session by 7:45 pm. No action is expected to follow. 5
