A regular monthly meeting of the Linn County Democratic Central Committee was held on August 22, 2017, at the Hiawatha Community Center in Hiawatha, Iowa. Chair Bret Nilles called the meeting to order at 7:01 PM, and Michael McGree, Recording Secretary, was present. A quorum was present. II. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE a. Chair Bret Nilles led the Central Committee in a recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance. III. RECOGNITION OF GUESTS, ELECTED OFFICIALS, AND CANDIDATES a. Cameron Agan resigned as Committeeperson from TBou2 ii. Cameron Agan was nominated and elected Alternate Committeeperson from CR07 V. TREASURER S REPORT: BRET NILLES REPORTING a. Cash on hand: $26,400 as of end of July b. A motion to distribute $14,000 to local Democratic candidates was moved, seconded, and carried on a voice vote. c. A motion to allow the Chair to spend up to $100 at Latino Fast was moved, seconded, and carried on a voice vote. d. The Linn County Central Committee July 2018 Treasurer s Report was approved. e. Paul Iversen, labor educator with the University of Iowa Labor Center, spoke to the Central committee about the Labor Center s mission, why it is important, and the current threat of a shutdown of the Labor Center. VII. ELECTION: FINANCE CHAIR a. As there were no candidates for the position of Finance Chair, an election was not held. 89 VIII. COMMITTEE UPDATES 90 91 92 93 94 95 96 97 a. Affirmative Action: Committee Chair Lindsey Ellickson reporting i. Mrs. Ellickson reported on the high turnout among Democrats had recent festivals representing ethnic and other underrepresented groups. b. Disability Caucus: Caucus Chair Catherine Crist reporting Page 5 of 7

Rita Hart on 8/16/18. 2. Disability Caucus will meet immediately prior to the Central Committee meeting at 5:30 PM at the Hiawatha Community Center. c. Labor Caucus: No report i. No report d. Veterans Caucus: No report e. Stonewall Caucus: Caucus Chair Casi Rubert reporting i. Next meeting: Chrome Horse Saloon in downtown Cedar Rapids on 9/12 at 7 PM. ii. Ms. Rupert reported on outreach efforts to young LBGT youth. IX. NEW BUSINESS/ANNOUNCEMENTS a. Members spoke about upcoming events and other items of interest Page 6 of 7
