project Council (NRC) 8 Somali livelihood program EDC/USAID $ 8, 510 Burao Total Budget $ 130,440 Vision TOGYOVO wants to see a well empowered & skilled youth, women, children & IDPS those are very responsive to their needs & free from poverty, ignorance, inequality by 2020 Mission statement TOGYOVO is a local None governmental youth organization that stands for improving quality of life of vulnerable groups among the society including children, youth, women, minority groups & IDPs through education empowerment, judiciary, capacity building & advocacy interventions, principally, TOGYOVO believe that all the human being are equal and have same natural rights under the law. Organizational structure a) General assembly (GA) b) Board of Directors c) Executive Committee Organizational capacity TOGYOVO is a none governmental youth organization that has been working in social relief and development sectors since 1997 in cooperating and working with many international, UN-agencies, Diaspora and local community, the organization received different capacity building programs including trainings and equipment/materials from International cooperation for development, UNICEF, OXFAM Canada, and National Endowment for Democracy (known as NED) that made the organization capable and compatible to develop, implement and review its operational plans in skilled way and respond community needs in responsible and accountable manner. Below are references for the Organizations of which TOGYOVO is working with different project currently:- 2

Current activities a) water hygiene & sanitation project sponsored by CARRITAS TOGYOVO has currently implemented one-year rural hygiene and sanitation improvement project in eight rural villages under Togdheer region including Dhoqoshey, Balidhiig, war-imran, Qoryaleh, Beeli-Eeday, Higlo, Lan-mulaho, Hajj Saleh,, that help the community in those sites to promote and keep the hygiene and sanitation in their environment through organizing, establishing & training of Village health promoters in each village, the project also provide sanitation & hygiene promotion equipments including wheel barrows, forks and spades, as well as, stationeries & office furniture for each VHP (village health promoters). The project also support community to have 70% of cash contribution for building latrines for the villagers, while the villagers themselves has provided 30% of contribution for construction of latrines in their houses, CARRITAS has been and still is the main financial & technical supporter for this project b) Innumeracy & literacy project in Rural & urban sites Innumeracy & literacy projects funded by CARRITAS is running eight rural sites in Togdheer region including Dhoqoshey, Balidhiig, war-imran, Qoryaleh, Beeli-Eeday, Higlo, Lanmulaho, Hajj Saleh, Magaalo-yar,, this project is focusing on increasing innumeracy & literacy skills for 520 adult-women in the above named rural villages, the subjects taught in these centers are Somali, Math,, the duration of this project is for one year, the organization also running on two NFE centers in Aden Suleiman IDPs & October IDPs in Burao town. c) Human rights protection project TOGYOVO is running human rights improvement project in Togdheer region funded by NRC (Norwegian Refugee council), specially focusing on minority groups, children, refugees and IDPS through investigating, documentation, monitoring, & advocacy initiatives on all voidances, abuse against above mentioned group s rights. TOGYOVO uses to encourage government & judiciary sectors to follow on & take legal-steps on those make aggressions and valiances against human rights, it also strategically use to motivate community to support IDPDS, refugee, minority & women in getting their rights. d) Good governance & Capacity Building programs for LNGOs in Burao town TOGYOVO has successfully implemented good governance and capacity building programs for Twenty local youth & women Organizations in Togdheer region, the project compose of trainings & provide office equipments including computers, printers for these organizations in order to support them to respond their community needs in efficient way, the training areas are as follows:- 3

Good Governance & leadership style, communication skills, developing & implementing effective plans, conducting active monitoring & evaluations, fundraising & income generating skills, proposal & report writing skills, conflict resolution skills, team building & team work skills, developing organizational policies & procedures and etc. This project has been fully funded & supported by National endowment for Democracy (NED) that is based on USA. d) Strengthening the rights of disabled and minority people in Somaliland With assistance of National endowment for Democracy (NED, TOGYOVO is currently implementing a one year Human rights improvement project started from October 2009 and will be completed September 2010, the project is focusing on protecting and promoting of human rights of disabled and minority people in areas of participation in decision making, community awareness raising on human rights issues, as well as establishing a mature dialogue mechanism between human rights abusers, human rights defenders and human rights victims as to build comprehensive atmosphere among them and improve social value and justices in regard less of disable, minority, and etc. e) Radio interactive education program for IDPs and poor children in Burao town Under financial support of EDC & USAID, TOGYOVO is running a radio interactive education project, in which 1,000 (one thousand) IDPS and poor children in Burao are benefiting from it, the age-range of these children are from 5-15 years old, those are children out of schools and completely missed to go to schools because of hard circumstances they are in, including poverty (unable to pay the fees or buy learning materials), ten functional centers are placed at different IDPs centers in Burao district that helped learners to have access of free education opportunities in their residence.
