Mencius Harmony The official Newsletter of Mencius Lodge No. 93 F. & A.M. under the Jurisdiction of the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of the Philippines April to June 2008 Vol. 1 No. 2 MENCIUS LODGE NO. 93 FORMALLY TURNS OVER A TWO CLASSROOM PUBLIC SCHOOL BUILDING TO SAN JOSE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AT SAN JOSE, PAMPANGA On June 19, 2008, WM George Lao led a delegation of nineteen brethren from Mencius Lodge to San Jose, Pampanga for the formal turnover of a two classroom public school building donated by the Lodge to San Jose Elementary School, Upon arrival at the school, the brethren were warmly welcomed by the principal, the faculty and the entire student body, accompanied by the school band. Officers of the Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc. led by the Chairman of the Welfare Committee, Enrique Chua, were present to witness the turnover ceremonies. The guest of honor of the affair was Mayor Oscar Rodriguez of San Fernando, Pampanga. After an inspirational message by Mayor Oscar Rodriguez, the deed of donation was signed and handed over by WM George Lao to Mayor Rodriguez who received it in behalf of the school. The entire delegation then proceeded to the ribbon cutting and formal turnover of the two classroom school building.

TURNOVER CEREMONIES OF PUBLIC SCHOOL BUILDING Unveiling of the Marker Mencius brethren with school children Front view of the school building Inside the classroom with Mayor Oscar Rodriguez THE COMMEMORATIVE MARKER FROM THE STATION OF THE WORSHIPFUL MASTER BY WM GEORGE LAO My dear brethren, it has been almost half a year since I was installed Worshipful Master of Mencius Lodge No. 93 and I have come to fully appreciate the fraternal love and support of our brethren of the Lodge. When I first accepted the honor of being your Worshipful Master, I was thinking of coming up with a worthwhile project that will be long lasting and meaningful as well as serve as a bond to bring the brethren to the lodge even closer to one another. Since the brethren have always been supportive of education, I thought of coordinating with the Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc. for Mencius Lodge to donate a public school building. The response of the brethren has been overwhelming and in a span of 3 to 4 months since I brought up the idea with the brethren of the lodge, we have formally turned over our donated 2 classroom public school building to San Jose Elementary School.

The brethren who joined me during the turnover ceremonies have witnessed the appreciation of the entire school and community to our donation and I have in turn witnessed the wholehearted support of the brethren of Mencius Lodge to this worthwhile project. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the brethren for your generosity and also for your active participation towards the success of this project. Let me also thank the brethren who joined me to the 2008 ANCOM wherein our very own VW Paul Ibasco was installed District Grand Lecturer of Masonic District NCR-A. In behalf of the Mencius delegation, I must also thank Bro. William Chua who arranged for our transportation throughout the trip. Our activities have been very successful because of the support of the brethren and I am sure that you will continue to be active participants in our endeavors as we further develop our fraternal bonds and foster harmony in our Lodge.
