August Crime Report 2018 PURPOSE: The purpose of this report is to provide an analysis of Coeur d Alene crime for the month of August 2018. Information provided: Compstat Report for calendar month and year to date. Arrest statistics for calendar month. Calls for Service / Officer Activity for calendar month. Compstat Monthly Map for calendar month. Month-to-Month Comparison Maps Part 1 Crimes (Compstat Crimes) by calendar month. Month-to-Month Comparison Field Interviews Monthly & YTD Accident Map Month-to-Month Comparison Maps for Pedestrian/Bike Checks by calendar month. DATA SOURCE: The information used for this analysis was Summit / Spillman data compiled using CrimeView Mapping / Analysis and Crystal Report / Excel Statistical Charts. CompStat: Part 1 Crimes Offense Normal Range for August Aggravated Assaults Large Increase: Six of the eleven incidents were domestic related. Dispositions: Eight closed by arrest/warrant, two active at the prosecutor s office and one remains under investigation. Homicide: Occurred in conjunction with an attempted bank robbery, active investigation. Rape: One active investigation and one closed due to victim refusal. Part 1 Crimes - Monthly Analysis August 2018 Robbery (2): Attempted armed robbery at Global Credit Union, the suspect was shot when he entered the business with a gun in his hand; An intoxicated male was in a verbal altercation at the Corner Bar, upon leaving the suspects met him outside. The victim was battered and his wallet was taken. This is an active investigation. Auto Burglaries by Arson: Vehicle fire, active investigation; Dumpster fire, possible suspects are known transients. District 4 2 Auto Burglary 24% Increase: One transient suspect cited for attempting entry. See maps for details on locations. 1 8 6 Non-Residential Burglary Large Decrease: Two incidents reported, suspects in both cases have been identified. 81 82 83 84 85 Residential Burglary 8% Decrease: See map for details. Theft 2% Increase: 14 of the incidents were shoplifting related. The remaining were thefts from buildings open to the general public or where the suspects had legal access to. A total of eleven cases were closed by arrest or citation. Vehicle Theft 55% Decrease: Two vehicles and three motorcycles were reported stolen. Detailed information: Chevy Impala, recovered in CDA; Hyundai Accent, still stolen; 2016 Harley Davidson motorcycle, still stolen; 2014 Harley Davidson motorcycle, recovered abandoned in CDA; 2001 Yamaha dirt bike, still stolen.
