Houston Public Schools Houston, MO 65483 Minutes of the Board of Education in regular session April 12, 2018 Quorum Certification of Election Results Dissolve Board of Education Oath of Office Officers A regular meeting of the Board of Education Houston R-I School District of Texas County, Missouri was convened at 6:00 p.m. with the following members present: Jo Holland, Christie Koch, Stacie Ely, Jennifer Scheets, Curtis Hubbs, Darren Ice, and Leon Slape. Dr. Moss read the election results provided by Laura Crowley, County Clerk and Election authority. A motion was made by Darren Ice and seconded by Jennifer Scheets to certify the election results as presented. Motion carried 7-0. The Board was dissolved. Tanya Bathon, Executive Board Secretary, administered the oath of office to Leon Slape and Stacie Ely. Dr. Moss asked for nominations for President. Leon Slape nominated Jo Holland. Nominations ceased. With no other nominations, Jo Holland assumed duties as Board President. Dr. Moss asked for nominations for Vice President. Christie Koch nominated Jennifer Scheets. Nominations ceased. With no other nominations, Jennifer Scheets assumed duties of Vice President. Board President Jo Holland asked for nominations for Secretary/Treasurer. Jennifer Scheets nominated Leon Slape. With no other nominations, Leon Slape assumed duties of Secretary/Treasurer. A motion was made by Curtis Hubbs and seconded by Jennifer Scheets to approve Tanya Bathon as Executive Board Secretary for the current term. Motion carried 7-0. Closed Session A motion was made by Jennifer Scheets and seconded by Curtis Hubbs to go into closed session pursuant to RsMO 610.021, subsections 3 and 13. Motion carried 7-0. High School Student of the Month, Jessi Willhite, was recognized. High School Student of the Month, Jessi Willhite, led the Board in the Pledge of Allegiance. approve the agenda as amended. Motion carried 7-0. Correspondence MSTA/MNEA PTO Patron Comments Christie Koch Texas County Master Gardeners Old Business 2018A Reference Update New Business Consent Agenda Minutes Dr. Moss gave the Board information on building specifications for Christie Koch regarding building new football field restrooms. Spoke to the Board regarding raised beds for Summer School. A motion was made by Leon Slape and seconded by Curtis Hubbs to approve MSBA 2018A Reference Update as presented at the March 13 th Board meeting, excluding the following policies; IGD-AP3, JHDF, IGD-AF2, and IGD-AF3. Motion carried 7-0. A motion was made by Jennifer Scheets and seconded by Curtis Hubbs to approve the consent agenda as amended. Motion carried 7-0. Approve minutes from the March Board Meetings. Claims for Payment Claims approved for payment were checks 18325-18491. Transfers Insurance Rate Renewal Architect/Boiler Project Seclusion/Restraint Trainer Stipend Early Childhood Process Coordinator Stipend Program Evaluations Board Reports A motion was made by Darren Ice and seconded by Curtis Hubbs to approve MET-Aetna with the Board paying 100% of insurance, with the Health Risk Assessment completed. Motion carried 6-1. A motion was made by Leon Slape and seconded by Curtis Hubbs to accept the bid presented by Paragon as architect on the Boiler project. Motion carried 7-0. A motion was made by Leon Slape and seconded by Curtis Hubbs to approve a fixed stipend for the Exception Child Cooperative seclusion/restraint trainers at $1,500.00. Motion carried 7-0. A motion was made by Darren Ice and seconded by Curtis Hubbs to approve a fixed stipend for the Exceptional Child Cooperative Early Childhood Process Coordinator at $6,000.00. Motion carried 7-0. A motion was made by Leon Slape and seconded by Jennifer Scheets to approve the Curriculum Program Evaluation as presented by Audrey Kell. Motion carried 7-0. Administrators updated the Board regarding ongoing activities on the

school campus. Patron Comments Next Board Meeting Closed Session A motion was made by Jennifer Scheets and seconded by Christie Koch to have the next regular board meeting on May 8, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. in the High School Library Media Center. A Special Closed session is scheduled on April 16, 2018 in the Central Office at 6:00 p.m. Motion carried 7-0. A motion was made by Leon Slape and seconded by Jennifer Scheets to resume Closed session. Motion carried 7-0. Closed session resumed at 8:52 p.m. Open Session resumed at 10:34 p.m. Adjournment A motion was made by Curtis Hubbs and seconded by Christie Koch to adjourn. Motion carried 7-0.
