REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION FEBRUARY 9, 2016 The Regular Meeting of the Board of Education of the Johnson City Central School District, held in the Board Room of the Johnson City High School, 666 Reynolds Road, Johnson City, Broome County, New York was called to order by President Martinez at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 9, 2016. President Martinez led the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. Upon roll call, Board Members present: Member absent: Richard G. Martinez, President Shannon M. Edmondson, Vice President Nicholas J. REPORT - SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS A. INSTRUC- Superintendent Roland reviewed the schedule for Instructional Reports for TIONAL the remainder of the school year. REPORT B. BOARD Legislative Committee Trustee Farr attended the Legislative Breakfast COMMITTEE along with several other board members and administrators. Topics covered REPORTS by the Legislators included mandate relief, GEA and foundation aid legislation, and future initiatives.

LEGAL MOTION: Trustee Edmondson SECOND: Trustee Jablonowski ISSUES Mr. Race explained the resolution. -Tax Change RESOLVED, that upon a decision by the Supreme Court of Broome County, property owned by Kashou Enterprises, Inc., at 1500 County Airport Rd., Binghamton, NY, Tax ID #110.04-1-37.2, the assessment was decreased as per the spreadsheet made part of this resolution. The refund of $11,302.16 should be sent to the attention of Paul Sheppard at Hinman, Howard and Kattell as attorney for Kashou Enterprises, Inc. and it is further, RESOLVED, that the Assistant Superintendent for Administration and the Superintendent are hereby authorized to execute any documents which may be required to effect the result of this settlement. BOARD The Board was pleased to acknowledge a donation from Anthony Cleary OPEN of several items to be used in the athletic training room. DISCUSSION The art department has expressed interest in creating a permanent district art collection consisting of student artwork. More details will be provided to the Board at a future date. The Board of Education will conduct a Work Session on Tuesday, February 16 at 6:00 PM in the BOE Conference Room (Rm. 163) at Johnson City High School. L. VISITORS James Fuentes, 60 Sherman Street, Johnson City, NY Mr. Fuentes, a senior at Johnson City Schools, inquired regarding beginning the practice of using high school students to mentor younger students. Superintendent Roland offered to meet to discuss this and asked Mr. Fuentes to provide a list of students committed to this type of program.
