President Vicki Hoppe called the regular Sharonville Council meeting of October 13, 2015 to order at 7:00 p.m. A poem was read by Patty Taylor in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month followed by the Pledge of Allegiance led by Matt Eggenberger. ROLL CALL In attendance for Roll Call were Council Members: Kerry Rabe, Ed Cunningham, Greg Pugh, Rob Tankersley, Dave Koch, Matt Eggenberger and Paul Schmidt. Mayor Hardman was absent with notice. MINUTES The Minutes from the regular council meeting of September 29, 2015 were approved as written and distributed. REPORTS AND COMMUNICATIONS MAYOR KEVIN HARDMAN (Absent with notice) o No report. SAFETY SERVICE DIRECTOR JIM LUKAS o Explanation of Legislation given: 2015 38 is for the disposal of a 17 year old Fire Department pumper which is not used but maintains a high maintenance cost. 2015 R 14 is for the annual tax rate which is still at a zero rate. PRESIDENT OF COUNCIL VICKI HOPPE o Thanked the Sharonville Fire Department for the three open house events and the chili cookoff, it was well-attended and a wonderful time was had. CLERK OF COUNCIL TERESA BUCHEIT o No report. AUDITOR MARK PIEPMEIER o The Auditor s report for the month of September was submitted to Council. o 68% of the budget has been spent with 75% of the year completed which is well within the budget. o The Tax Department report for the month of September is attached to the Minutes. TREASURER AL LEDBETTER o The Treasurer s report for the month of September was submitted to Council. o Earnings tax is up 4% in the amount of approximately $696,000. o S.C.M.R. is up $66,701 which is a pleasant surprise. RESIDENTS DESIRING TO BE HEARD BEFORE COUNCIL Patty Taylor of 4045 Creek Road thanked Council for wearing pink during the month of October and informed everyone that wearing pink does make a survivor feel good and it is appreciated. COUNCIL COMMITTEES LAW - KERRY RABE o The next Law Committee meeting will be Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at 5:15 p.m. in the Administrative Conference Room. RECREATION ED CUNNINGHAM o The Recreation Committee met and discussed the following: The ongoing battle to improve the conditions of Berke Soccer Fields and plans to meet with Team All Sports to discuss turf rebuilding. Utilization of Kemper Fields was decided for fall soccer leagues. Online registration for the Recreation Center began on September 15 th. Hometown Guide advertisement requests have been done. Appreciated expressed towards City Administration for agreeing to allow City employees the use of the recreation facility; the Recreation Department was in agreement with that decision. o Councilman Schmidt agreed that Berke Fields needs something done to the turf and would strongly support that recommendation and Councilman Cunningham agreed. PUBLIC WORKS GREG PUGH o The Public Works Committee report was provided and is attached to the Minutes. o The next Public Works Committee meeting is scheduled for Monday, October 19, 2015 at 7:45 a.m. in the Administrative Conference Room. FIRE & POLICE ROB TANKERSLEY o Kudos given to the Fire Department for the Open Houses, it was well attended. FINANCE & ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT DAVE KOCH o No report. o The next Finance Committee meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. in the Administrative Conference Room. PLANNING & ZONING MATT EGGENBERGER o The Planning & Zoning Department report was provided and is attached to the Minutes. HEALTH PAUL SCHMIDT o The Health Department report was provided and is attached to the Minutes. o The next Health Department Committee meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at 6:30 p.m. in the Health Department Conference Room. UNFINISHED BUSINESS ORDINANCE 2015 38, Authorizing the Safety/Service Director to Dispose of a 1998 Fire Department Sutphen Pumper. Clerk of Council gave the third reading of this ordinance. NEW BUSINESS RESOLUTION 2015 R 14, Resolution Accepting the Amounts and Rates as Determined by the Budget Commission and Authorizing the Necessary Tax Levies and Certifying Them to the County Auditor. Clerk of Council read the Resolution. The motion for passage by Mr. Pugh was seconded by Mr. Cunningham. Roll Call Vote on passage. Motion approved unanimously.
