Page 7 From the Gering Courier newspaper web site, GeringCourier.com How long did it take you to build this car? asked 11-year old Chandler Stroh. Two years. Steve Disch replied. It s awesome. said Chandler. Would you like to sit behind the wheel? Steve asked. With eyes big as saucers, Stroh slipped behind the wheel of Disch s 1964/2006 GTO Saturday during the Rock n Roll Father s Day Classic at Five Rocks Amphitheater. I got to sit in it. Stroh said as he hugged his dad, Andy Stroh, and then high-fived Disch before heading to the next car. Did you see the smile on his face? Disch asked. The smiles like that are what keep me pumping. He ll remember this show for years to come.

Page 9 Old Cars Weekly has announced its winners of the Golden Quill Award for the 2012 publication year, and once again your club s monthly newsletter was among those honored. We won in the National Compact Class. Here are some of the comments about the award that appeared in the Old Cars Weekly News and Marketplace web site: The Golden Quill Award honors outstanding efforts by editors and their clubs in fostering progress in the old car hobby, and the impact of the award is tremendous says Dr. Gerald Perschbacher, chief judge for the award. The Golden Quill Award is issued by the staff of Old Cars Weekly to provide special recognition of literary achievement that boosts the hobby. To level the field, categories are designated based on size, complexity, paper stock and circulation. In recent years, the quality and competition between publications has taken several steps higher. As desktop publishing became more sophisticated, so did club magazines and newsletters, adds Old Cars Weekly editor Angelo Van Bogart. Quite a number of national publications have reached such high quality that they could compete on the magazine rack of a bookstore. Those publications would be right at home beside news and features magazines. That s how far our old car hobby has come in publishing. Therefore, being a club member has benefits, if nothing more than just receiving the publication. To subscribe to Old Cars Weekly News and Marketplace, go to www.oldcarsweekly.com.
John Lawrence and Art Marshall want to express their many thanks to Steve Disch, who made their attendance at this show possible. Steve gave John and Art his reservation at the hotel, and roomed with his friend Howard. On Saturday morning before the car show, we visited Scotts Bluff National Monument. We stopped at the visitor s center (above), then drove to the top. Below: Howard, Steve, John. Right: Howard, John, Art and the cars. Page 10
