The City runs like a well-oiled machine, our city runs like a speed boat rather than someone who is rowing, we are the envy of all the communities in the area with our court system and free police force. Unbelievable community, we are so fortunate, you could not go out and pick a better one. Everyone we having working for the city is unbelievable. Ray Went our city solicitor has become an unbelievable solicitor for this city, I want to thank him for that; Matt Doran our engineer is outstanding, Planning Board, and the volunteer fire department taking care of the safety of our community. I am so proud of this community and council, budgeting as frugally as possible, it is an amazing town. I am so proud of this community and honored that the town keeps electing me. I start my last year of my 4 year term as mayor. I have been Mayor for 32 consecutive years and I want to thank the town. It is an honor and privilege to serve. The girls in the office are a well-oiled machine, everything just clicks. COMMENTS Councilmember Kevin Wessler stated this year has been a very good year with a lot of progress in areas. The new guys jumped right in, everything is going great. Doris does a great job with the Christmas tree lighting and each year it grows larger; Port Day also. One negative thing is we are not getting younger volunteers for the Fire Department. We are asking for volunteers, the average age is 53 years old, if anyone knows of anyone who would be interested please have them sign up. On Christmas Eve there was a fire on Chestnut Neck Road; with a quick response. Our fire department does an amazing job. However, young guys are needed desperately. Mayor Giberson stated he will bring it up at the Atlantic County Mayors Association; it is a problem for all communities and hopefully we can do to promote this. Councilmember Nick Capille commended Doris and Mayor Gary on the Jet Ski situation; it is working out great. Doris commented and thanked the jet skiers who became involved; if it not for them this would not have worked out. Council President Bugdon stated the city is doing very well, the revaluation is completed, the gravel mine is completed and the court is back in the black. The mayor getting the substation here has made a big impact on the city and the petty vandalism has vanished thanks to the NJSP presence. City Solicitor Ray Went stated what a great employee Tax Assessor Bill Johnson is to the community. 4
