Sources of the FDP Data: Censuses Refugees are covered in censuses in 7 countries, on the other hand, asylum-seekers are covered in none of the censuses for all countries. 12

Conclusions Data is collected via 3 main data source categories Censuses, Administrative registers, Sample surveys Almost all countries have national standard definitions and national legislations used by all related institutions. 25 countries have national standard definitions, 21 of them are in compliance with international legislations. 21

Conclusions Refugees are covered in censuses in most of the countries Identification problems Most of the countries cover refugees in total population. 74% of the countries share their results with international organizations Only half of the countries share data with UNHCR. 22

Recommendations To Associate different data sources To set standards improve statistics on FDP. National statistical systems should be strengthened by international organizations. Awareness of FDP group within the countries; Potential data sources Definition of this group and coverage in the total population Data holders (Institutions and related organizations) 23

Recommendations One of the core functions of the UN system is to set norms and standards to ensure consistency and comparability of FDP statistics across countries and over time. 24
