Wild, a columnist and editor for numerous newspapers throughout his career, most notably as the editorial page editor of the Journal Herald in Dayton and associate editor for the Dayton Daily News. This collection includes many newspaper clippings, columns, speeches and materials, correspondence, photographs and other small projects that details Wild s work throughout his career. Arrangement: William H. Wild Papers are arranged into two series: Series I: Publications, 1942-2013 Series II: Related Materials, 1959-2007 Biographical Note: William (Bill) H. Wild was born May 12, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois but moved to Rutland, Vermont at an early age. Wild received his undergraduate degree in political science from Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio, where he was the editor-in-chief of Antioch College Community Publications for a year. In 1954, he became a reporter and photographer for the Parkersburg Sentinel in Parkersburg, West Virginia. In 1956, Wild took the job as reporter and columnist, later the city editor, for the Herald-Dispatch, and occasionally its sister newspaper, the Herald-Advertiser in Huntington, West Virginia. In 1969, he took the positions of assistant city editor, Action Line editor and newspapers ombudsman for The Journal Herald in Dayton, Ohio. In 1977, Wild became the editorial page editor of the Journal Herald and then the associate editor and the opinion page columnist for the Dayton Daily News, when the two newspapers merged in 1986. In 1990, he became a free-lance columnist, consultant and TV political analyst working with stations like WDTN in Dayton, Ohio. Wild wrote for the Kettering-Oakwood Times in the early 1990s and then again from 2011-2013. From 2000-2008 he wrote for the Christian Citizen USA. William Wild is a member of the Shroyer Road Baptist Church which aided the acclimation of Zaire refugees into the United States in 1992. He was also a member of the Foreign Exchange Club and Dayton Executive Club serving as president for both clubs. He is also active in the Dayton Council on World Affairs, for which he wrote a book for the organization s 60 th anniversary in 2007 titled, Seeking peace through understanding : the Dayton Council on World Affairs : a 60-year history. Scope and Content: The collections documents William H. Wild s work as a columnist and editor of various newspapers throughout his career. This collection includes many newspaper clippings, columns, speeches and materials, correspondence, photographs and other small projects that details his work. The collection is divided into two series. Series I, Publications, includes newspaper clippings and columns, speeches and other various projects Wild worked on throughout his career. The series is organized by newspaper companies

and by year. The speeches and additional projects were left in original order and organized by year. Additionally, The East Street Borer, was a paper written by Wild for his family detailing life surrounding him. Series II, Related Materials, includes correspondence, photographs, audio material, resumes, and other various material related to Wild s career.
