JANUARY 12th 15th 26th Military ballots mailed for Special Election The Elections Office works very hard to get the military ballots out as early as possible. Washington State law requires military ballots to be mailed 30 days prior to each special election. Last day for mail and online registration The deadline for mail-in and online registrations for the February election is January 15th (29 days prior to election day). Any address changes or updates made must be done by the 15th to be eligible for this election. The deadline for in-person registrations is February 5th. Any voters wishing to register in-person must be a brand new Washington voter to be eligible for this election. Ballots mailed for Special Election Ballots for all eligible voters in the special election, other than military, go in the mail by January 26th. Now that ballots are in the mail, if you plan on contacting voters it may help to have a list of voters who have returned their ballots. You can view returned ballot information online at www.elections.chelancountywa.gov.

FEBRUARY 5th 13th 23rd 23rd Last day for in-person registration If you are doing any last minute voter registration drives, make sure that you let the voter know that they need to register to vote in-person at the Elections Office by February 5th. They must not be registered anywhere else in Washington State and must register in-person at the Elections Office. Mail in and online registrations, as well as, address updates must be made 29 days prior to Election Day (February 13th). Election Day - results On Election Day, candidates and the media are always invited to the Elections office for the release of the election results. Results are released at this location first and then posted online. Chelan County Auditor s Office 350 Orondo Ave, Level 3, STE 306 Wenatchee WA 98801 Election results will be released after 8:00pm on February 13th. We start tabulating exactly at 8:00pm but it takes us a few minutes to get the results and publish online. Certification of results Who certifies the results? The Canvassing Board certifies all election results. The Board is comprised of the Chelan County Auditor, the Chair of the County Commissioners, and the Prosecuting Attorney. The Board reviews all ballots challenged for no signature, signature discrepancy, postmarked too late, and any other reason. April resolution deadline Can I come observe? The entire election process is completely open to the public and the candidates. You can come observe the Election Staff receive, open, and prepare the ballots to be scanned, as well as observe the ballots be scanned, resolved, and tabulated. You can even come observe the certification of the election results by the Canvassing Board. No need to make a reservation, our doors are always open. The deadline to have your resolution for the April Special Election presented to the Auditor is February 23rd. You can submit your resolution in person or electronically to elections@co.chelan.wa.us.

The Board is comprised of the Chelan County Auditor, the Chair of the County Commissioners, and the Prosecuting Attorney. Can I come observe? The entire election process is completely open to the public and the candidates. Ballot measure deadline for Primary (districts only) Ballot measures must be delivered to Auditor s Office by 5:00pm on Friday, May 11th. Candidate filing begins Candidate filing begins on Monday, May 14th and continues through Friday, May 18th. We have all the forms necessary to complete when you file for office but you will need to bring in your filing fee, if a filing fee is required. You can file in person at the Elections Office or file online at www.elections.chelancountywa.gov. Lot drawing The lot drawing, which determines the order of the candidates on the ballot, will be conducted Friday, May 18th at 5:00 p.m. The drawing is open to the public and the results will be published online immediately after the drawing is completed. Candidate withdrawal deadline The last day to withdrawal a declaration of candidacy from the ballot is May 21st. JULY 9th 20th Last day for mail and online registration The deadline for mail-in and online registrations for the General Election is July 9th (29 days prior to Election Day). Ballots mailed for Primary Ballots for all eligible voters in the Primary, other than military, go in the mail by July 20th. 30th Now that ballots are in the mail, if you plan on contacting voters it may help to have a list of voters who have returned their ballots. And last day to file as a write-in candidate If you missed filing week back in May, your final opportunity to file as a write-in candidate is July 20th. Write-in candidates will not appear on the ballot, but if a write-in candidate is within the top 2 of votes cast they will advance to the General Election ballot. Last day for in-person voter registration The deadline for in-person registrations is July 30th. Any voters wishing to register in-person must be a brand new Washington voter to be eligible for this election. Ballot returns 60% to 80% of all ballots returned will be received prior to Election Day. 70% of all ballots are returned by drop box. Campaigning - candidate requests Commonly campaigns will try to time their mailings to be the same day as the ballots are mailed (around July 20th). You can request the list of voters online with a Voter Data Request Form.

SEPTEMBER 21st Military ballots mailed for General Election The Elections Office works very hard to get the military ballots out as early as possible. Washington State law requires military ballots be mailed 45 days prior to each election. Online Voters' Guide and Voters' Pamphlet The Voters Pamphlet, published by the Secretary of State s Office, will only include statewide candidates and state ballot measures. It is only published for the General Election. Local candidate and measure information, as well as statewide information, can be found on the Online Voters' Guide available on our website. For the General Election only, a Voters Pamphlet will be mailed to every household in Chelan County, not just registered voters, which should help inform unregistered residents of the registration deadlines and locations. Households should expect their pamphlet to arrive between October 12th and October 19th. Voters Pamphlets will be available at each Auditor s Office, library, and post office.

DECEMBER 6th Statewide certification of General Election Deadline for statewide certification of the November General Election. 14th February resolution deadline The deadline to have your resolution for the upcoming 2019 February Special Election presented to the Auditor is December 14th. You can submit your resolution in person or electronically to elections@co.chelan.wa.us. For alternative submission methods, contact the Elections Office.
