DEISY VENTURA & NATÁLIA ARAÚJO DESIGN BY ESTÚDIO KIWI INFOGRAPHICS COUNTRIES THAT RECEIVE THE MOST REFUGEES Pakistan 1.5m Turkey 1.84m Lebanon 1.2m Italy 142,000 United Kingdom 155,000 Iran 982,000 Sweden 198,000 France 319,000 Germany 562,000 Ethiopia 702,500 1º Turkey 2º Pakistan 3º Lebanon 4º Iran 5º Ethiopia NOTE: this data includes refugees + pending cases awaiting approval of refugee status. The figures in Europe are overestimated due to the number of people who apply for asylum in more than one country. If they apply for refugee status in three different countries, for instance, they will be included in the statistics of all three countries. Even so, the number of refugees and pending cases in Europe is much lower than in the first five countries listed here.
