RUSSIA FROM REVOLUTION TO 1941
THE MARXIST TIMELINE OF WORLD HISTORY In prehistoric times, men lived in harmony. There was no private ownership, and no need for government. All people co-operated in order to survive However, as time went by, people got greedy. The desire for private ownership brought about the development of a class system This developed into a Feudal system. The king is in control of the country, and people are below him in rank. The suits some people (Lords and Barons), but makes other people miserable (Peasants).
THE MARXIST TIMELINE OF WORLD HISTORY This system of government survived until the Industrial Revolution. A new class of people was born The Middle Class / Bourgeoisie They wanted a say in running the country, as well as making money for themselves so they revolted against the upper classes, and killed off a bunch of them (English Revolution, French Revolution, etc.). Absolute monarchies were replaced by Democracies which were controlled by the Bourgeoisie Capitalism replaced Feudalism Capitalism created tension between the workers (Proletariat) and the Owners (Bourgeoisie) Capitalism is a system where the low-paid labour of many, makes a minority rich. The factory owner sells goods at a great profit, while the worker is paid barely enough to survive. They are exploited. Democracy is the road to Socialism Marx The oppressed are allowed once every few years to decide which particular representatives of the oppressing class are to represent and repress them. Marx
THE MARXIST TIMELINE OF WORLD HISTORY The worker feels they can only survive so long as the rich want the goods they make, and new and better goods are always being needed. The rich can only survive by spending lots of money, and keeping the masses under tight control. At some point, the oppressed people awaken their Class consciousness, realize they are being exploited, and chose to do something about it. This would eventually lead to a Revolution by the Proletariat, against the bourgeoisie Let the ruling classes tremble at a communist revolution. The Proletarians have nothing to lose but their chains. They have a world to win. Working men of all countries, unite!
THE MARXIST TIMELINE OF WORLD HISTORY The working class would seize power, remove the factory and business owners, and take over the means of production for themselves. This would be known as The Dictatorship of the Proletariat. This would allow them to produce the same goods, sell them, but all benefit from the profits equally. They would also take over the state itself, and rule it for the good of all. This is a Transition Stage, and not designed to last for long. In time, class divisions would disappear, since everyone had everything in equal. There is no private ownership of property or goods, and people have only the barest necessities as their own. The rest of the wealth is equally shared.
THE MARXIST TIMELINE OF WORLD HISTORY With no class division and no competition between people, there would be no need for government or police. There would be no jealousy and no theft, for all own all things together. Communism has arrived. The world is a Utopia, and completely Stateless and Classless.
INTRO TO MARXISM and KARL MARX The Russian Revolution was partly inspired by Karl Marx, a German economist and the creator of revolutionary communism. Born in 1818, he died in 1883,leaving behind his famous Communist Manifesto, written in 1848, and Das Kapital, published in 1867.
INTRO TO MARXISM and KARL MARX In these two works he explained the theory of communism, as he envisioned it. The main belief of communist theory is that economic relations (sometimes called materialism) are the most important relations between people.
INTRO TO MARXISM and KARL MARX In the creation of any consumer product, there are several components: raw materials; factory and machinery; The owner or boss of the factory (Bourgeoisie); and the common worker (proletariat).
INTRO TO MARXISM and KARL MARX According to Marx, the common worker was the most important piece of the process, because his labour turned raw materials into a functional, finished product. But, said Marx, the owners stole that extra product profit and value, taking it for themselves.
INTRO TO MARXISM and KARL MARX While this capitalism may have been necessary at the start, Marx believed it was unnecessary in the modern age. In fact, all it did now was cause the suffering of the workers the largest group in society.
INTRO TO MARXISM and KARL MARX Marx s solution is revolution. The common worker takes over all the means of production from the owners/capitalists. That includes the factory, the raw materials, their homes and property, etc. Everything.
INTRO TO MARXISM and KARL MARX BASIC TENETS OF MARXISM Man is good in his inner nature. Economic relations are the Basis for all human relations Capitalism cannot exist without exploitation. Yeah.. right...
INTRO TO MARXISM and KARL MARX Private property is evil. Capitalism produces two classes of people. Have s and Have-Not s.
INTRO TO MARXISM and KARL MARX Only a full revolution can rid society of capitalism and establish the dictatorship of the proletariat. Classlessness and statelessness will follow only after the revolution, and following a short transition period.
