Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority s aim is to enhance the quality of life within the community. Public service, leadership development and education of youth are the hallmark of the organization s programs and activities. Sigma Gamma Rho addresses concerns that impact society educationally, civically and economically.
Operational Courtesies: Chapter Visits by an International Officer complimentary housing meals transportation to and from the airport, train station or bus depot communicate with invitation any deviation from protocol Other Travel (non Sorority business) by International Officer: every attempt should be made to contact her, offer assistance, and extend the hospitality of the chapter (dinner, visit, local transportation, etc) International Executive Director: introduced during a Regional Conference after all current officers have been presented
Communication with Speakers and Special Guests: Invitations shall be in writing and the following items understood: place, date and time of event transportation dress lodging honorarium name of host or escort (to all meetings and to departing means of transportation) subject and length of speech request biographical information and photo for introduction thank you notes should always be sent promptly (1-5 days)
Speaking on Behalf of Sigma Gamma Rho: on behalf of local chapter consult Chapter Basileus on behalf of your region or the entire sorority consult your Regional Syntaktes
Membership: be prompt for meeting and remain until the meeting is adjourned unless special permission from the Basileus always address the chair before you speak as Madam Basileus or Madam Chairman or Madam Presiding Officer cooperate with the elected officers of the organization whether they are your choice or not be prompt in seconding motions to bring business to the point of discussion limit debate on issues expect that disagreements will occur during chapter meetings continue to focus on the issues and not on the individuals involved remember, all remarks must be addressed to the chair and not to an individual soror
Informational Meetings: showcase Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. and her achievements in the community to prospective members highlight Sigma s history and programs have an organized display, which provides clear insight and the most positive representation of the sorority possible
Paraphernalia: should always be clean, wrinkle free, easy to read and accurate in its depiction of Sigma, her history and mottoes official colors are royal blue and gold. Strive to wear paraphernalia that reflects accurate coloring. When wearing a Sigma Gamma Rho hat, make sure your hair is clean and groomed Sorority pins shall always be worn on the left side of the chest in the place of the official badge Sigma ladies shall abstain from smoking, profanity, fighting, excessive drinking and other acts that may be interpreted as offensive when wearing their paraphernalia Remember to be prepared to radiate the best that is within them to the world. Sigma Ladies must also remember that once they have worn their blue and gold in public that people stop referring to them as Shirley Smith and start referring to them as Shirley the Sigma Gamma Rho and govern themselves accordingly.

what is expected of all members? obey the rules hold Sorority matters in strict secrecy let your life exemplify high principles for others to follow cooperate with officers and members of the Sorority train for leadership as far as your ability permits know your sorors and let them know you by your outstanding works and actions

Sigma Uniform put your best face forward at any and all functions where you might be called upon to represent the organization: plain, uninterrupted royal blue and/or gold dress or skirt suit white dress or white skirted suit black dress or suit (something you can wear to church) formal dress that is either royal blue and/or gold quality shirt, free of stains or wear marks bearing the name Sigma Gamma Rho and/or the Greek letters for casual functions such as picnics and step shows
Remember The poodle was chosen the sorority mascot because the poodle carries itself in a classy, sophisticated way and it is one of the most beautiful breeds. It is also a friendly dog that likes to be pampered. The poodle is the second most intelligent breed of dog.
