Second Cycle of the Periodic Reporting Exercise Periodic Reporting Follow-up Meeting for Mediterranean Europe 13-17 March 2010 Acre, Israel

Periodic Reporting Follow-up Meeting for Mediterranean Europe 13-17 March 2010 Acre, Israel ONE OF THE MAIN RESULTS: Many sites from Mediterranean Europe were inscribed at a very early stage and that management plans, clear boundaries, buffer zones and statements of Outstanding Universal Value were lacking as noted by the previous Periodic Reporting exercise completed in 2006. These issues were supposed to be addressed, ideally, before the launch of the Second Cycle of the PR.

Periodic Reporting Meeting for Mediterranean Europe 20 24 September 2011 Valletta, Malta General feedback during the discussions showed that this meeting was an important event during which National Focal Points were reminded of the overall framework, purpose and time-frames of Periodic Reporting. The main conclusion of the meeting was that although the documents and reports that need to be prepared may seem as additional tasks, they are, in reality useful tools that allow to manage our sites better. All in all, the meeting provided a forum for fruitful discussion and sharing of experiences among focal points and representatives from the WH Centre and Advisory Bodies. National Focal Points were informed about the tentative calendar and process for the Second Cycle of Periodic Reporting. The features of the revised Periodic Reporting Section I and Section II questionnaires were presented. It was clarified that: 1)the questionnaires will only be accessible to States Parties of the Mediterranean European sub region on 31 July 2013 and will need to be submitted by States Parties by 31 July 2014; as it was agreed upon by the State Parties and decided by the WH Committee in 2011 (see Decision 35 COM 10C.2) 2) another meeting for this sub-region will take place, with the purpose to provide a detailed training on the questionnaires, in September 2013 and will be hosted in Florence by Italy.
