This is an opportunity for anyone to address the Board regarding any voting item on tonight s agenda. No one came forward to address the Board. RESOLUTION 2017-2018 #104 - APPROVAL OF MINUTES On a motion offered by Mr. Hauser, seconded by Mrs. Mains and carried unanimously RESOLVED: That the minutes of the Regular Meeting held on November 14, 2017 and the Reorganization and Committee of the Whole Meetings held December 5, 2017 are hereby approved as recorded in the copies presented to the Board. SOLICITOR S REPORT: MR. NAKLES RESOLUTION 2017-2018 #105 - APPROVE SETTLEMENT OF TAX ASSESSMENT APPEAL On a motion offered by Mr. Palmer, seconded by Mrs. Mains and carried unanimously RESOLVED: That the Greater Latrobe Board of School Directors authorizes the Solicitor to execute the necessary agreements to settle the tax assessment appeal filed in the Westmoreland County Court of Common Pleas as Stonewood Family Partnership v. Westmoreland County Board of Assessment Appeals v.
County of Westmoreland, Unity Township, Greater Latrobe School District, No. 15CI5052, reflecting a fair market value for the property of $1,650,000 for the tax years that are subject to this appeal. RESOLUTION 2017-2018 #106 - APPROVE GREATER LATROBE SCHOOL AUTHORITY MEMBER - KEITH VISCONTI On a motion offered by Mr. Lazor, seconded by Mr. Musick and carried unanimously the following resolution was approved by voice vote: 7 - yeas 0 - nays RESOLVED: That the Greater Latrobe Board of School Directors hereby re-appoints Keith Visconti to serve a five (5) year term ending December 31, 2022 in accordance with the bylaws of the Greater Latrobe School Authority. LEGISLATIVE REPORT: MRS. SWIGART - Mrs. Swigart noted that the Tax Code Bill was partially passed stating that the 529 account parents would set up to use for college funds are now available to pay private school tuition in grades K-12. EDUCATION AND PLANNING: MRS. MAINS Rotary Backpack Program - Jerry Supko - GLLV Chairperson Mr. Supko presented information on the Backpack Program. He explained how the program works with students receiving quick, easy to fix meals to prepare over the weekend. This program has grown over the last four years from assisting 30 students during the first year to now helping over 100 students weekly during the school year! On a motion offered by Mrs. Mains, seconded by Mr. Palmer and carried unanimously the Resolutions 2017-2018 #107 and 2017-2018 #108 were approved by voice vote: 7 - yeas 0 - nays RESOLUTION 2017-2018 #107 - APPROVE CALIFORNIA UNIVERSITY OF PENNSYLVANIA INTERNSHIP AGREEMENT the California University of Pennsylvania Internship Agreement for two (2) years beginning January 1, 2018 through December 31, 2020. A copy of this agreement will be made part of the official minutes of the District. RESOLUTION 2017-2018 #108 - APPROVE WESTERN GOVERNORS UNIVERSITY STUDENT TEACHING LETTER OF AGREEMENT the Western Governors University Student Teaching Letter of Agreement effective December 20, 2017. A copy of this agreement will be made part of the official minutes of the District. RESOLUTION 2017-2018 #109 - APPROVE BLAIRSVILLE-SALTSBURG SCHOOL DISTRICT AGREEMENT WITH GLSD FOR STUDENT 2017-2018 #01 On a motion offered by Mrs. Mains, seconded by Mr. Musick and carried unanimously
the Blairsville-Saltsburg School District Agreement with Greater Latrobe School District for Student 2017-2018 #01 to attend the Saltsburg Middle High School until a tentative graduation date of May 29, 2018 at no charge to Greater Latrobe School District. ZORCH RESOLUTION 2017-2018 #116 - APPROVE LATROBE-GLSD PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION BOARD REPRESENTATIVE On a motion offered by Dr. Zorch, seconded by Mr. Musick and carried unanimously the following resolution was approved by voice vote: 7 - yeas 0 - nays Daniel Hennessy to serve a three (3) year term on the Latrobe-GLSD Parks and Recreation Commission Board beginning January 1, 2018 through December 31, 2020. Mrs. Mains informed the public that two letters of interest were received for the above position from Daniel Hennessy and Richard Donati. Mr. Donati is a retired teacher from the District; Mr. Hennessy has served on the Latrobe-GLSD Parks and Recreation Commission Board for over 10 years as a Unity Township representative and now for GLSD. He is an asset to the Board with his financial background and assists with the Latrobe-GLSD Parks and Recreation budget
each year. Mrs. Mains thanked both candidates for their interest in serving on this Board.
