1. Explain how the concept of territoriality is essential to the formation of a state. Compare territoriality in 17 th century Europe with that of the Native Americans. 2. Discuss the organization of states prior to the Peace of Westphalia. How did this treaty change the way states were organized? 3. How did the pursuit of the nation-state ideal in the 1800s lead to political unity? How did it lead to political unrest? 4. How did European colonialism change the political and economic landscape of the world? 5. What are the major tenets of the World Systems Theory? How does this model explain the differences in the levels of wealth among countries? 6. How did colonialism affect the political geography of the non-european areas of the world?
