The Chairperson submits herewith for the approval of the Commission the draft timetable of work (Annex), which has been drawn up taking into account the recommendations formulated by the Executive Board and adopted by the General Conference concerning the organization of the work of the 33rd session (33 C/2, Add., Add.2). 2. Commission IV will begin its work on Thursday 13 October 2005 in the morning, and will finish on Thursday 20 October in the morning. The Chairperson proposes to organize the Commission s work in the form of seven debates and nine meetings. 3. At the end of each debate, the representative of the Director-General, the Assistant Director- General for Culture, will answer the questions raised by the delegates. 4. The Chairperson wishes to draw the attention of the delegations to the procedure described in document 33 C/2 (paras. 27-30) for processing draft resolutions proposing the adoption of amendments to the Draft Programme and Budget. The Director-General s observations on the draft resolutions deemed admissible are contained in document 33 C/8 COM.IV. The Chairperson wishes to underline that the aim of the debates will, wherever possible, be to find a satisfactory outcome for every proposal within the Commission. He invites the delegations which are the originators of draft resolutions having budgetary implications to specify the source of funding for the implementation of the proposed activities, by identifying activities to be dropped or scaled down or by recourse to other sources of financing (Participation Programme or extrabudgetary funds). 5. Commission IV will adopt its report on Thursday 20 October in the morning. 6. The Chairperson takes this opportunity to point out that, if the examination of any item takes less time than foreseen, he will immediately start the debate on the next question. 7. In order to facilitate the organization of the work, delegates may ask to be included on the list of speakers in Room II at the beginning of each of the seven debates. The list of speakers for each debate will be closed after the intervention of the third delegate.
33 C/COM.IV/1 Prov. page 2 8. The time allowed for each speaker may vary according to the stage reached in the debates. The speaking time for each debate will be announced by the Chairperson at the beginning of the debate in question. 9. The meetings will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Meetings may be extended if necessary.
