Registration Sino Swiss Dialogue at Eco-Forum Global Annual Conference Guiyang 2016 Friday, July 8, 2016 Organizer Co-Organizer Hosted by

Political Background Founded in 2009, the Eco-Forum Global (EFG) promotes the sharing of knowledge and experience in the implementation of policies regarding green economic transformation and ecological security. Today, EFG is a major think tank helping the Chinese Government to design more sustainable development models for the future of China, with a better balance between social, ecological and economic dimensions. EFG s organization is inspired by the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, and one of its founders is the current Premier of the People s Republic of China and party secretary of the State Council. EFG holds various events during the year, in China and abroad, and wants to transform it into a major international forum on green economy/sustainable development with the involvement of a large number of international actors. Location Guiyang The Annual Conference takes place in Guiyang, Guizhou province. The province, with a total population of about 35 million (of which 35% are urban, 65% rural), is located in South-West China, and is one of the poorest in China. There is limited arable land in a mountainous environment, but the richness of landscape, biodiversity, spectacular lakes and water falls offer a high potential for tourism, which has remained mainly domestic. As such, the province is very conducive for innovative Cleantech solutions, eco-tourism and sustainable development strategies from Switzerland to preserve its environment. Swiss engagement in EFG 2016 Switzerland is regarded as the development model case for Guizhou in China, because of its landlocked and mountaineous landscape, the World Economic Forum in Davos and other similarities between the two political units. With the signing of the Sino-Swiss Innovative Strategic Partnership between China and Switzerland and strong efforts by the Guizhou government to push the cooperation with Switzerland on several fields, Switzerland is very committed to its participation in 2016. This includes the following events and meetings: Sino-Swiss Dialogue: Mountainous Economy and Green Development Business Platform High-level meetings between Swiss and Guizhou government Swiss speakers in side events Swiss Pavilion Whereas the Sino-Swiss Dialogue is open to all participants and the other activities concern only the Swiss official delegation and are organized separately.
