Global response n 2017 In 2017, 102 country offces responded to 337 humantaran stuatons. Snce 2010, UNICEF has responded to an average of over 305 humantaran stuatons n nearly 93 countres each year. The number of stuatons n 2017 was the second largest snce trackng began n 2005. Delverng humantaran results for chldren These are some of the key humantaran results acheved aganst targets for chldren by UNICEF and partners n 2017. Key results from humantaran responses The map below hghlghts the key results acheved by UNICEF and partners n some of the major humantaran responses n 2017. Refugee and mgrant crss n Europe: Nearly 18,000 at-rsk chldren were dentfed through screenng by outreach teams and chld protecton support centres n Greece, Italy, Serba, the former Yugoslav Republc of Macedona and Turkey (exceedng the target of 10,000). Iraq: Nearly 850,000 chldren accessed formal or non-formal basc educaton (exceedng the target of 726,000). Syran refugees: More than 1 mllon Syran refugee chldren n Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey were enrolled n formal educaton (exceedng the target of 882,000). Syran Arab Republc: Nearly 5.9 mllon people ganed access to safe water through the repar, rehabltaton or augmentaton of water and santaton systems (exceedng the target of.9 mllon). Hat: 87% of all cholera cases were dentfed and responded to wthn 8 hours (exceedng the target of 75%). Bangladesh: Nearly 900,000 affected people reached wth cholera vaccnaton (99% of the 900,000 ). Carbbean hurrcanes: Nearly 39,000 people ganed access to safe water n the mmedate aftermath of the emergency (exceedng the target of 37,000). Mal: More than 120,000 chldren aged 6 59 months sufferng from severe acute malnutrton receved treatment (exceedng the target of 107,000). Yemen: More than 2.3 mllon chldren aged 6 59 months were screened for acute malnutrton and over 226,500 chldren sufferng from severe acute malnutrton receved treatment (70% of the 232,000 ). Horn of Afrca: Nearly 706,000 chldren aged 6 59 months sufferng from severe acute malnutrton n Ethopa, Kenya and Somala receved treatment (95% of the 75,000 ). Ngera and the Lake Chad basn: More than. mllon chldren affected by the ongong crss n north-east Ngera, Cameroon, Chad and the Nger receved measles vaccnaton (exceedng the target of 2.3 mllon). Central Afrcan Republc: Nearly 83,000 acutely vulnerable people receved approprate WASH assstance through the Rapd Response Mechansm followng a shock (exceedng the target of 80,000). Democratc Republc of the Congo: More than 271,000 people receved uncondtonal cash grants (7% of the 366,000 ). South Sudan: Nearly 320,000 school-aged chldren accessed educaton n emergences (exceedng the target of 300,000). Ths map s stylzed and not to scale.
