On October 13, 2018, IPSF will proudly host our 9th Annual Spirit of Excellence Gala. This is the most highly anticipated event of the year and brings the community together to honor distinguished alumni of the Irvine Unified School District (IUSD) and riase funds for Irvine classrooms. The evening is a shining example of the difference we can make when we work together as a community. 2018 Spirit of Excellence Gala honorees: Spirit of Excellence in Music ANDY DODD Woodbridge High School, Class of 1995 Lakeside Alderwood With over 50 million albums sold worldwide and multiple ASCAP awards, Andy Dodd, has written and produced hits for Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus and Jonas Brothers, as well as for the smash Disney Channel original movie High School Musical. Factor in his songs and productions for stars like P!NK, Kelly Clarkson, Demi Lovato, Natasha Bedingfield and Jesse McCartney, and it s clear Andy Dodd has become a major force in contemporary pop music. Spirit of Excellence in Service COLONEL CRAIG ALLTON University High School, Class of 1987 Rancho San Joaquin A career Security Forces Officer with the United States Air Force, Craig Allton has served our country in a variety of special duty, nuclear, combat zone, and staff positions including four squadron and three deployed commands. He spent 24 years as an active duty officer, retiring as a Colonel. Highly decorated throughout his career, Allton has been recognized with the Department of Defense Legion of Merit Medal, the Defense Superior Service Medal and the Bronze Star Medal for combat excellence, three times. Spirit of Excellence in Athletics BENNY FEILHABER Northwood High School, Class of 2003 Benny Feilhaber is a Major League Soccer midfielder, and has also played for the U.S. Men s National Team in the 2007 and 2010 World Cup. In 2007, Feilhaber s winning goal against Mexico was named by Sports Illustrated as one of the 10 most significant goals in U.S. history. In 2013 he won the MLS Cup with Sporting Kansas City and in 2015, he was a finalist for League MVP and earned All-Star honors. Feilhaber is now back in Southern California, playing as starting midfielder for the new MLS expansion team, Los Angeles Football Club.
