Mosaic Campus Ministry Purpose & Affiliation The Mosaic Campus Ministry is a student organization affiliated with the Chugach Baptist Association, the Alaska Baptist Convention and the North American Mission Board to minister to college students at the University of Alaska, Anchorage. It's primary objective is to Help Students Know Christ - We achieve this by REACHING students for Christ, CONNECTING them to like minded believers and to the local church, STRENGTHEN- ING their faith walk and teaching them how to live a MISSIONAL lifestyle. The Mosaic Campus Ministry is about helping students achieve excellence in all parts of their lives and enabling them to be a more vital part in the their churches and community. The Mosaic Campus Ministry does not tolerate activities that result in undue physical stress or any subtle or covert technique that will impair, make captive, or destroy an individual's freedom of thought. The Mosaic Campus Ministry will adhere to all policies and regulations of the University of Alaska, Anchorage and the Board of Regents of State Colleges and Universities. All fundraising activities are to be carried out in accordance with the rules and policies of the Office of Student Affairs. Membership & Dues Section 1: All UA, Anchorage students are eligible for membership. Membership is based merely on participation in Mosaic Campus Ministry activities. Section 2: It is the policy of the board that, in accordance with federal and state law, illegal discrimination against any individual because of race, religion, color, na tional origin, citizenship, age, sex, physical or mental disability, status as a protected veteran, marital status, changes in marital status, pregnancy, childbirth or related medical conditions, parenthood, sexual orientation, gender identity, political affilia tion or belief, genetic information, or other legally protected status is prohibited. Decisions affecting individuals shall be based on the individual's qualifications, abili ties and performance, as appropriate. Section 3: No dues are collected, and no minimum participation requirements are enacted. Updated August 1, 2017 3
Officers & Responsibilities Section 1: (Organization) The following officers of Mosaic Campus Ministry will be collectively called the Leadership Team and will consist of the President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Club Council Representative. Section 2: (Election of Officers) 2-1: Officers are elected by interview process by the Leadership Team nominating committee and staff. 2-2: Election of Officers will be scheduled at the end of the Spring semester of the academic year. Newly elected officers will assume their offices immediately after the election. Section 3: (Eligibility of Officers) Candidates for election to Club Officers must be a member of the club and be in good academic and club standing. All candidates must be enrolled at UAA and available to conduct their elected office duties immediately in the beginning of the next academic year.. Section 4: (Duties of Officers) 4-1: President: shall preside over all club meetings by performing the duties as the Chairperson and follow the rules of order in conducting meetings. The President in the conduct of his or hers duties as Chairperson shall do the following: 1. Open every meeting on time or as soon thereafter. 2. Announce in proper order the business of the meeting. 3. Maintain compliance with the organizations constitution and bylaws. 4. Have minutes presented, corrected if necessary, and approved. 5. Moderate discussion of all motions during the meeting, keeping the members informed on the progress. 6. Restate all motions clearly and ask for more clarification from the maker of the motion if needed. 7. Sign all communications addressed to the organization. 8. Preside at executive committee meetings. 9. Act as the representative of the organization to outside persons and other organizations. 10. Appoint committees and the necessary members. 4-2: Vice President: shall perform the duties of the President during the President s temporary absence and when the President wishes to take part in the discussion. The Vice President shall also coordinate membership drives and club activities, and perform other tasks assigned by the President. The Vice President shall be primarily responsible for recruitment of prospective Updated August 1, 2017 4
members into the club from their respective areas and maintain club member relations. On top of these duties, the Vice President may need to perform the following duties: 1. Leads devotional at Leadership Meetings 2. Enlist students for retreats, conferences, etc. 3. Plans for transportation, lodging, and meals for those retreats, conferences, etc. 4. Turn in and present funding requests for Mosaic Campus Ministry events. 4-3: Secretary: shall perform the following duties: 1. Notify members and advisor of the time and place for each meeting. 2. Record proceedings of all meetings (regular and executive). 3. Prepare a copy of the agenda and the other order in which it will be presented for the Chairman. 4. Maintain an accurate roll call. 5. Have on hand the organizations constitution, bylaws and a copy of the parliamentary procedures. 6. In the written minutes, give the following: 1. Name of the Organization 2. Kind of meeting 3. Date, time and place 4. Disposition of previous minutes 5. Business transacted 4-4: Treasurer: shall perform the following duties: 1. Collect monies due to the organization. 2. Validate all vouchers presented for payment. 3. Disburse money on a request consigned by the president or other officers designated by the ruling. 4. File receipts for and keep accurate records of all financial transactions. 5. Present regular financial summary statements 6. Report the clubs financial status at the regular General Meetings. 4-5: Club Council Representative: shall perform the following duties 1. Attend all bi-weekly Club Council meetings. 2. Present information acquired from Club Council meetings at Mosaic Leadership Team meetings. Section 5: Vacancy of Office: An office will become vacant upon resignation or impeachment of an officer. After more than three unexcused absences of an officer, the Chairperson may determine the vacancy of the office. Leadership Team vacancies are filled as necessary by the nominating committee. Advisor Section 6: Tenure of Office: All officers shall serve one full academic year. Nominations will be accepted during the Spring semester of the academic year. Officers will assume their offices immediately after their appointment. Section 1: Selection of Advisor: The nominations for the position of Advisor shall be selected by the Director of Mosaic Campus Ministry. Section 2: Duties: In addition to the responsibilities of the Advisor as stated in the UAA Club Council Resource Manual, the Advisor shall also be responsible for assisting the club coordination of events with the University of Alaska, Anchorage administration and promote the ideals set forth in the constitution and bylaws of Mosaic Campus Ministry. Meetings Section 1: Weekly Meetings a. Leadership Meetings b. Outreach/Evangelism c. The Gathering (A Night of Worship) d. Breakfast On-the-Geaux e. Small Groups Section 2: Weekly Meetings are open to all students. Amendments Section 1: Amendments to the Mosaic Campus Ministry constitution shall be ratified by a majority vote of the Mosaic Campus Ministry Leadership Team. Section 2: Any major amendment shall be submitted to the University of Alaska, Anchorage Organizations Committee for final approval. Updated August 1, 2017 6
