GA Resolution -Dec 2010 Follow-up to the International Conference on Population and Development beyond 2014 Noting that the Programme of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development is due to formally come to an end in 2014, but that its goals and objectives remain valid beyond 2014, Decides to extend the Programme of Action and the key actions for its further implementation 2 beyond 2014 and ensure its follow-up in order to fully meet its goals and objectives

GA Resolution, cont d Calls uponthe United Nations Population Fund, in consultation with Member States, in cooperation with all relevant organizations of the United Nations system and other relevant international organizations, as well as institutions and experts, to undertake an operational review of the implementation of the Programme of Action on the basis of the highest-quality data and analysis of the state of population and development.. and requests the Secretary-General to submit a report based on this review to the forty-seventh session of the Commission on Population and Development;

Status of ICPD Beyond 2014 Global Review Core basis of the review, the global survey, nearly implemented - over 165 questionnaires completed and verified; data sets on quantitative data completed and shared with United Nations Regional Commissions; qualitative information on facilitators, barriers, achievements and priorities being coded and shared Analysis phase: Regional Commissions preparing regional analysis and reports for the 2013 regional population conferences, based on global survey and additional regional studies or technical meetings on specific regional priorities

Status of ICPD Beyond 2014 Global Review Global Survey Report on trends, conclusions and recommendations emerging from global survey to be available by end of April, 2013 Consultations proceeding on outline of ICPD beyond 2014 review report to guide the reports of Regional Commissions and provide vision for the forward looking ICPD agenda beyond 2014

Global Thematic Meetings (ICPD Review International Conference on Human Rights) ICPD Review International Conference on Human Rights, The Hague, Netherlands, 7-10 July, 2013 (Plenaries and breakout sessions) Objectives: identification of gaps, best practices and concrete recommendations on critical human rights issues focusing on SRH, gender equality and population and development Overarching framework: inequality and discrimination; and accountability

Global Thematic Meetings (Women s Health) Technical meeting of selected partner countries and experts (TBC probably LAC July/August) Objectives: To find effective ways to move toward universal access to SRH services through innovation in the health sector and an enabling socio-economic, political and policy environment; identify ways in which country-based work, as well as, related work at the regional and global level for NCD prevention and services Contribute inputs to International Human Rights Conference

Linkages between next steps and the post 2015 Development Agenda A key objective of the ICPD Beyond 2014 Review is to facilitate the integration of the population and development agenda into the UN development agenda beyond 2015 and ensure meaningful development outcomes The ICPD Review is identified by the Secretary General s report as source for identifying key priorities in the post- 2015 UN development agenda

Linkages between next steps and the post 2015 Development Agenda Results of regional, global and other thematic analyses as well as outcomes of regional population conferences from June-September, 2013 to contribute to: Secretary General s report for special event on MDGs in September National positions in preparation for September event

Linkage between three mandated reports and post 2015 Development Agenda 1. The Secretary General's ICPD Review Report (Cairo II), including recommendations on the way forward 2. Secretary General's Summary ICPD Review Report 3. Index Report of key issues for implementation identified in the 2014 session of the Committee on Population and Development (CPD)

Linkage between three mandated reports and post 2015 Development Agenda ICPD Review Report to provide a template for integrating ICPD agenda into global development agenda through the lenses of equality and equity, human rights, security and sustainability Between April and October ICPD Review Report thematic groups, co-led by UNFPA and interested UN agencies and partners, will produce the chapters of the report with support of lead author and consultants; monitoring framework to be ready by November

Linkage between three mandated reports and post 2015 Development Agenda UNFPA to leverage strong inter-agency and civil society ownership to advance recommendations for post-2015 development agenda Final reports available to Member States and public by January 2014 for messaging for 47 th CPD and UNGASS and for post 2015 intergovernmental process
