Important You will not be accepted into the Teacher Education program and Upper Division (UD) until ALL criteria have been met. o Courses - If you are currently taking a course required to meet the UD requirements, you will not be accepted until the end of the semester. o Hours If you will not have 50 semester hours until the end of the semester, you will not be accepted until the end of the semester. Acceptance notification will be e-mailed to your YSU e-mail. You cannot register for UD courses until you have signed your UD acceptance letter. Once you have signed your letter, you will be able to register for UD courses, space permitting. ALL APPLICATIONS SUBMITTED AFTER the FEBRUARY 1 st /SEPTEMBER 1 st DEADLINE WILL NOT BE PROCESSED UNTIL THE WEDNESDAY AFTER FINALS WEEK. If fingerprinted at the YSU Police Station, we will request a copy. Complete a Group Interview. Group interview sign-up sheets are in the BCOE advisement office. DO NOT schedule group interviews during your scheduled classes. This is not acceptable. Note You will need to complete a survey for the group interview process. You will receive an email with the link near the time of your group interview. 10/21/2011 STATEMENT OF ASSURANCE GOOD MORAL CHARACTER Ohio statutes require that teachers be in good moral character. These statutes are embodied in regulations governing teacher education. The Dean of the Beeghly College of Education at Youngstown State University is responsible for recommending individuals for licensure. Standards require that an applicant for licensure be deemed to be of good moral character (rule 3301-23-02) [A] [8] and rules (3301-23-01 to 3301-23-21). Given this responsibility, it is required that you sign this statement regarding good moral character as defined below by the State Board of Education as a condition of admission to and exit from any professional education program in this college. Read the standard below. If you are confident that you understand the standard, complete the Statement of Assurance. Failure to do so can result in your not being recommended for licensure, pending the outcome of a hearing with the Dean. Be aware that a failure to respond truthfully could result in perjury charges. Statement of Standard 3301-21-01 (M) Definitions: Good Moral Character A person shall be deemed to be of good moral character provided that said individual has not pleaded guilty to or been convicted of any felony, any violation of Section 2907.04 (corruption of a minor) or Section 2907.06 (sexual imposition), or Division (a) or (c) Section 2907.07 (importuning) of the Revised Code, any offense of violence, theft, or drug abuse that is not a minor misdemeanor, or any substantively comparable ordinance of a municipal corporation or of another state. An individual who has pleaded guilty to or has been convicted of any such offense may have an application for licensure considered by the State Board of Education, provided said individual meets the conditions specified in Rule 3301-23-23 of the Administrative Code.
