ATHLETE S CODE OF CONDUCT 1) To respect the spirit of fair play and behave accordingly on the sporting arena. Fair Play is defined as much more than playing within the rules. It incorporates the concepts of friendship, respect for others and always playing within the right spirit. Fair play is defined as a way of thinking, not just a way of behaving. It incorporates issues concerned with the elimination of cheating, gamesmanship, anti-doping, violence (both physical and verbal), exploitation, unequal opportunities, excessive commercialisation and corruption. 2) To conduct myself in the highest standards of honesty, respect, truth, fairness, ethical behaviour and sporting attitude in my oral and written expressions. 3) I shall adhere to all announced rules, policies and procedures of SUSC and its authorised staff or agents. 4) I shall not engage in any activities or conduct contrary to the laws of Singapore or in any places and countries where training is being held. 5) I understand that if I behave in an improper manner towards coaches, media, venue owners/operators or any officials, I may be excluded/expelled from the Team/Contingent. 6) I will exhibit good sportsmanship at all times. I will not argue with coaches, referees, judges, competitors or officials from Singapore or other countries. I understand that protests may be lodged in accordance with Games rules, and could only be done through my team manager or any authorised members representing Singapore. 7) That I, or my representative, shall refrain from instigating or becoming involved in any type of altercation with any other athlete, spectator or other person, and shall not engage in abusive, abrasive or disorderly conduct. 8) Violation of the Code of Conduct on my part is determined also to be misconduct. I understand that all cases of disciplinary proceedings respecting misconduct shall be dealt with by the SUSC disciplinary committee, in consultation with the University representatives of the athlete if deemed necessary. ANTI-DOPING GUIDELINES 1) That it is my responsibility to abide by the code from World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and Anti-Doping Singapore (ADS) Anti-Doping Policies (all referred to as Anti-Doping Rules ) 2) I will not use or possess illegal drugs or directly/indirectly participate/aid in illegal drug use or drug rule violations, cause damage to persons or property, or engage in illegal activity, recognizing that all such activities bring disrepute to the sport, the University and Singapore. 3) Any prescription drugs or medications do not contain any substance prohibited by the Anti-Doping Rules and that any therapeutic use or other permitted medical exemptions are fully documented prior to use as laid out in the Anti-Doping rules. 4) I will not consume prescription drugs or medication without the prior consent of a doctor during competition. 5) SUSC is fully informed of any and all drug related offences in which I may be involved. 6) I am available for testing in accordance with the Anti-Doping Rules.
INSTITUTION ENDORSEMENT 7) The institution will endorse its students participation in WUC (if selected). WUCs organisers require institutions to sign-off on their respective athletes participation form. 8) Institution will release its students (if selected) to attend the actual WUC, which could be during school term or exams period. Please check the dates above 9) Institutions will have no issue with allowing its students (if selected) to travel as a combined Singapore Team 10) Either the institution and/or its students will foot its share of the cost. The estimated cost for is about $3000 per athlete (without any sponsorship at the moment). This includes cost of coaches, trainings, attire, airfare, participation fees etc. Typically the cost per athlete will be co-paid by the athlete and his/her respective institution.
