The Loveland Board of Education met in regular session on Tuesday, June 19 th. called the meeting to order at 6:06 p.m. Call to Order ROLL CALL: Present Present Present Present Mrs. Pennington Present RESOLUTION NO. 12-41 ADOPTION OF BOARD AGENDA moved, seconded by to adopt the agenda for the June 19, 2012 Board of Education meeting as presented. Voting order and sequence will be rotated by the Treasurer. ROLL CALL VOTE: Mrs. Pennington Executive Session Mrs. Pennington moved, seconded by to enter into Executive Session to consider the compensation of a public employee. Board Member Committee Reports reported that the Curriculum Committee met and discussed reading lists and reserved book lists. The Policy Committee also had a meeting. Great Oaks held their end of the year senior ceremony. attended the Curriculum Committee meeting and she encourages the district to publish the reading and reserved book lists prior to school starting so that parents may review them. She also attended the Policy Committee meeting. attended the Green Ribbon Ceremony at the High School and he congratulated Jamie Gordon for receiving the 2012 Career Quest Excellence in School Counseling Recognition Award. RESOLUTION NO. 12-43 AUTHORIZE THE LOVELAND ATHLETIC BOOSTERS, INC. TO CONSTRUCT A FITNESS CENTER AT LOVELAND HIGH SCHOOL AND TO APPROVE A LICENSE AGREEMENT moved, seconded by Mrs. Pennington to authorize the Loveland Athletic Boosters, Inc. to construct a fitness center at Loveland High School and to approve a license agreement. WHEREAS, the Loveland Athletic Boosters, Inc. (the Boosters ) is a non-profit corporation organized to support the Loveland City School District Board of Education (hereinafter the Board ) athletic programs and its student athletes; and WHEREAS, the Boosters has informed the Board that it desires to construct a fitness center at Loveland High School in furtherance of the purposes of the Boosters and donate the fitness center to the Board upon completion of construction; and WHEREAS, the Board expresses its appreciation for the generous donation offered by the Boosters and wishes to permit the Boosters to construct a fitness center at the Loveland High School and agrees to accept the Boosters donation of the fitness center upon completion of construction. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Loveland City School District Board of Education as follows: SECTION I The Board of Education hereby approves the License Agreement attached as Exhibit A to permit the Boosters to construct a fitness center at the Loveland High School on the condition that the Boosters name the Board as a thirdparty beneficiary to all contracts that it enters into with contractors for the construction of the fitness center so that all warranties, rights and remedies are assigned to the Board upon completion of construction of the fitness center. SECTION II It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Board concerning or related to the adoption of this Resolution were adopted in an open meeting of this Board, and all deliberations of this Board and any of its committees that resulted in such formal actions were adopted in meetings open to the public, in compliance with all applicable requirements of the Ohio Revised Code. RESOLUTION NO. 12-44 APPROVE THE BID FROM OHIO CASUALTY FOR PROPERTY, LIABILITY AND FLEET INSURANCE FOR 2012-2013 Mrs. Pennington moved, seconded by to approve the bid from Ohio Casualty for property, liability and fleet insurance for 2012-2013 (Attachment 3): ROLL CALL VOTE: Mrs. Pennington Treasurer s Report and Recommendations RESOLUTION NO. 12-45 APPROVE THE FOLLOWING TREASURER RESOLUTIONS: moved, seconded by to approve the following Treasurer resolutions: Approve submitted financial reports, payment of invoices, board member expenses, transfers, investment of funds and appropriation adjustments. Approve reading and corrections of typographical and substantive changes to previous minutes for May 15 and June 4 not yet adopted and as printed in draft. Approve disposal of books from Loveland Intermediate School Media Center by means of gift, sale or destruction (See Attachment 4). Approve the total amount from all sources available for expenditure and balances. Approve final amended certificate of estimated resources for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2012. Approve final amended appropriations for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2012. Approve temporary appropriations for fiscal year 2013 at 50% of the fiscal 2012 appropriations. Approve payment of lieu of transportation: WHEREAS the student(s) identified below have been determined to be residents of this school district, and eligible for transportation services; and WHEREAS after a careful evaluation of all available options, it has been determined that it is impractical to provide transportation for these student(s) to their selected school(s); and WHEREAS the following factors as identified in Revised Code 3327.02 have been considered: 1. The time and distance required to provide the transportation 2. The number of pupils to be transported 3. The cost of providing transportation in terms of equipment, maintenance, personnel and administration 4. Whether similar or equivalent service is provided to other pupils eligible for transportation 5. Whether and to what extent the additional service unavoidably disrupts current transportation schedules 6. Whether other reimbursable types of transportation are available; and WHEREAS the option of offering payment in lieu of transportation is provided in Revised Code: Therefore, Be It RESOLVED that the Loveland Board of Education hereby approves the declaration of impractical to transport for the identified students, and offering them payment in lieu of transportation.
