AKA Day at the Capitol 2013 A Call to Action through Timeless Service Greetings Sorors! Florida AKA Day at the Capitol is April 3-4, 2013. These days promise to be informative and exciting days for all who so proudly wear salmon pink and apple green. Our team of dedicated sorors has developed a day full of S.M.A.R.T. sessions and the means by which members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated can connect with their state legislators. The Florida Legislature regular session begins March 5th and ends May 3rd. On April 4th, let it be said that Alpha Kappa Alpha members came to the state capitol to make sure that the laws and policies being debated truly represent the will of the people and are in its best interest. Supreme Basileus Carolyn House Stewart; Regional Director, Marsha Lewis Brown; South Atlantic Regional International Connection Representative, Roslyn Mixon-Phillips; AKA Day at the Capitol Chairman, Laurise Thomas; Senator Geraldine Thompson; and Representative Mia Jones cordially invite you to attend AKA Day at the Capitol. The International Connection Committee theme for this administration is Global Empowerment, Moving from Discussion to Action and the South Atlantic Region Connection Committee theme is A Call to Action through Timeless Service. It is the goal of the Florida Connection team to move from talking about what we want to do and see happen, to taking action in our communities at the local level. The Florida Connection Team humbly ask that each chapter commit to send a minimum of two sorors to Tallahassee. We also encourage our undergraduate members to attend. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated in conjunction with the other members of the Divine Nine in partnership with the Florida Black Caucus State Legislators have united as one voice with other entities with like agenda. Graduate registration fee is $60.00 and undergraduate is $30.00. Chapters will be recognized for their 2012 Connection Activities, C.A.R.E.S 2012 and 2013 MLK Day of Service. Registrations are non-transferable and non-refundable. Also, registration packets and gifts can only be picked up by the pre-registered individual. There will be no exceptions.
