~;.;'~~;. REPORT TO COUNCIL TO: Mayor and Council DATE: November 17, 2014 FROM: Debra Key FILE: 4200-01 Chief Elections Officer SUBJECT: 2014 Municipal Election Results ISSUE: Results of the 2014 Municipal Election BACKGROUND: The General Voting Opportunity for the Offices of Mayor, Councillor and School Trustees for the Village of Harrison Hot Springs was held on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at the Harrison Hot Springs Elementary School. In addition, an Advance Voting Opportunity was also held at the Village Office Council Chambers on November 5, 2014 (required under s. 97 of the ). Mail Ballot Voting was also available to electors. We received twenty five (25) requests for Mail in Ballot packages. Twenty (20) Mail in Ballot packages were received back in time for the Ballot count on November 15, 2014. The Mail Ballot Voting opportunity may not be required for future elections as the Municipal Elections are scheduled to be held in October of 2018, thereby capturing any "snow birds" prior their departure. The Determination of Election Results was made on Monday, November 17, 2014 in the Council Chambers at the Village Office. The number of votes for each candidate was unchanged from the Preliminary Results announced at the close of the General Voting Opportunity on November 15, 2014. The Official Results of the 2014 municipal Election are as follows: Office of Mayor (1) Advance GVO FACIO, Leo (elected) ALLEN, John KISS, Zoltan 92 22 14 297 195 84 389 217 98 1

Voters on List of Electors New Registrations Non-Resident 1187 55 20 The Elector turnout was 57% COMMENTS: Eligible Voters There were no candidate withdrawals, declarations of ineligible candidates or challenges. The Election process ran smoothly for both the Advanced Voting Opportunity and the General Voting Opportunity. The election staff worked tirelessly throughout the entire voting and counting processes until very late in the evening at the General Voting Opportunity. I would highly recommend that Council consider budgeting for the purchase or rental of automated voting machines to reduce the requirement for staffing during the voting opportunity and for the counting process. 2

I wish to thank all of the Village staff for their professionalism and outstanding support and assistance before and during the election process. RECOMMENDATION: THAT the Results of the 2014 Municipal Election be received. 3 Debra Key Chief Election Officer DIRECTOR OF FINANCE COMMENTS: ~ O:urti: Director of Finance RATIV FICER COMMENTS: -la_n_c_r_a-ne~.f-----...::::...~ ~~ ~-.-, 0 Chief Ad inistrative Officer enclosure 3
