Brighton Town Council Council Rock Elementary School February 28, 2018 MAf~ 1 2018 Whole Foods Plaza How can you approve a variance where the applicant has yet to justify a need? What can Whole Foods provide that cannot be matched or exceeded by Wegmans? By contrast there was no car wash anywhere near the area at Clover and Monroe and the applicant fulfilled a need. Any discussion of (i) traffic and/or parking (ii) adverse effects to the character of a residential neighborhood or (iii) incremental benefits to the town at applicant's cost misses the point: what drives the call for a variance in the first place? That's the sole reason for this meeting - why? The issues raised at the meeting were, at best, subordinate to the central cause. Thank you very much. Mary Critikos 1 Grosvenor Road Brighton
