Spring Semester, 2015/16 Application for Student Visa/Entry Permit Persons who wish to study in Hong Kong and do not have the right of abode or the right to land in Hong Kong are required to obtain a student visa/entry permit from the Hong Kong Immigration Department. Important Information (1) Upon successful nomination and admission to HSMC, you are required to submit the student visa application including all supporting documents in hard copy before 2 Oct 2015. Please be reminded to read the two enclosed documents carefully before the application: ID(E)996 Guidebook for Entry for Study in Hong Kong SAMPLE Form ID995A All supporting documents must be in CHINESE or ENGLISH. Important Information (2) When filling out the Form ID995A, please make sure you complete all the required information, including Page 4. if you do NOT bring any dependent, please skip Page 5 & 6. If you are financially sponsored by a third person, please complete the enclosed Declaration of Financial Sponsor in the package. 2
Check List before Submission (1) Documents to be submitted in Original Copies Form ID995A Make sure you signed at the bottom of every page Make sure you affix a recent photo (not larger than 55mm x 45 mm and not smaller than 50mm x 40mm) to Page 2 of the form Declaration of Financial Sponsor (if applicable) To be completed and signed by financial sponsor 3
Check List before submission (2) Documents to be submitted in Photocopies Travel document/identity card of the applicant Financial documents under the name of the applicant in Chinese or English e.g. bank statements, savings account passbook, etc. Admission letter issued by HSMC Travel document/identity card of the financial sponsor (if applicable) Financial documents under the name of the financial sponsor (if applicable) 4
Application Completed You are required to send the completed application form (ID995A) + supporting documents to HSMC by post before 2 Oct 2015 to: Ms Crystal CHEUNG Student Affairs Office (M603, Block M) Hang Seng Management College Hang Shin Link, Siu Lek Yuen, Shatin, N.T., Hong Kong Tel. 852-3963 5009 Before mailing the hard copy, you are required to send a scanned copy of your application including all supporting documents by the end of Sept 2015 to crystalcheung@hsmc.edu.hk to ensure there is no missing info. 5
Application Processed Application process normally takes around 6-8 weeks starting from the date the Hong Kong Immigration Department confirms receipt of all required documents. Once processed, the Hong Kong Immigration Department will inform HSMC the result and when to collect the student visas/entry permits. Student visa application fee is HK$190 and HSMC will pay such fee on behalf of you at the time of visa collection. You are required to settle the fee to HSMC on your arrival at the College. After collecting the student visas/entry permits, HSMC will courier it to your host institution. 6
Successful Applicants (1) For International Students You will be issued an approval letter of your application and a self-adhesive visa label by the Hong Kong Immigration Department. Please affix the label onto a blank page of your travel document. Be sure to draw the Immigration Officer s attention to the approval letter and student visa so that you will enter Hong Kong as an exchange student instead of a tourist. 7
Successful Applicants (2) For Mainland Students You will be issued an approval letter of application and a selfadhesive entry permit label [ 進入許可標籤 ]. You need to apply for an "Exit-entry Permit for Travelling to and from Hong Kong and Macao" (EEP) [ 往來港澳通行證 ] and a relevant exit endorsement [ 相關赴港簽註 ] from the Public Security Bureau office where your household registration is kept. Please affix the entry permit label onto a blank endorsement page of the EEP. Do NOT affix the entry permit label onto the passport or other travel documents. Be sure to draw the Immigration Officer s attention to the approval letter and student visa so that you will enter Hong Kong as an exchange student instead of a tourist. 8
