Treasurer s Report and Recommendations RESOLUTION NO. 14-15 APPROVE THE FOLLOWING TREASURER RESOLUTIONS moved, seconded by to approve the following Treasurer resolutions: Approve the submitted financial reports, payment of invoices, board member expenses, transfers, investment of funds and appropriation adjustments. Approve reading and corrections of typographical and substantive changes to previous minutes for December 10, January 7, and January 14 not yet adopted and as printed in draft. Accept donation of $500 from IQuity, Inc. to Loveland Middle School. Approve a resolution declaring intent to proceed with election on the question of an additional tax in excess of the ten-mill limitation: BOARD OF EDUCATION LOVELAND CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT HAMILTON, CLERMONT AND WARREN COUNTIES, OHIO The Board of Education (the "Board") of the Loveland City School District, Hamilton, Clermont and Warren Counties, Ohio (the "School District"), held its regular meeting on January 21, 2014, at 6:00 p.m., at the offices of the Board, 757 South Lebanon Road, Loveland, Ohio 45140, with the following members present: introduced the following resolution and moved its passage: RESOLUTION DECLARING INTENT TO PROCEED WITH ELECTION ON THE QUESTION OF AN ADDITIONAL TAX IN EXCESS OF THE TEN-MILL LIMITATION (Ohio Revised Code Section 5705.21) Operating Levy WHEREAS, on January 14, 2014, the Board passed a resolution declaring the necessity, for the purpose of paying current operating expenses of the School District, to levy an additional tax in excess of the ten-mill limitation in the amount of 5.6 mills for each one dollar of valuation, which amounts to $.56 for each one hundred dollars of valuation for a continuing period of time; and WHEREAS, the Hamilton County Auditor has certified to the Board that the dollar amount of revenue that would be generated by such additional tax levy during the first year of collection is $4,222,401.00, based on the current tax valuation of the School District of $754,000,220.00; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Education of the Loveland City School District, Hamilton, Clermont and Warren Counties, Ohio, two-thirds of all of the members elected thereto concurring, that: Section 1. The Board desires to proceed with the submission of the question of the additional tax levy to the electors of the School District. Section 2. The question of such additional tax levy shall be submitted to the electors of the School District at the election to be held therein on May 6, 2014 (the "Election Date").
Section 3. The form of the ballot to be used at said election shall be substantially as follows: An additional tax for the benefit of Loveland City School District, Hamilton, Clermont and Warren Counties, Ohio for the purpose of paying the current operating expenses of the School District at a rate not exceeding five and six tenths, (5.60) mills for each one dollar of valuation, which amounts to fifty six cents ($0.56) for each one hundred dollars of valuation, for a continuing period of time, commencing in 2014, first due in calendar year 2015. FOR THE TAX LEVY AGAINST THE TAX LEVY Section 4. The Treasurer of the Board is hereby directed and shall certify, not later than February 5, 2014 (which date is not less than 90 days prior to the Election Date), to the Hamilton County Board of Elections a copy of the resolution of January 14, 2014 and a copy of this resolution together with the dollar amount of revenue that would be generated by the additional tax levy during the first year of collection, based on the current tax valuation of the School District, as estimated by the Hamilton County Auditor. Section 5. The Treasurer of the Board is hereby directed and shall simultaneously certify to the Hamilton County Board of Elections, that the additional tax levy will be for current operating expenses for a continuing period of time, and that the levy will be placed upon the tax list and duplicate for the 2014 tax year (commencing in 2014, first due in calendar year 2015) if approved by a majority of the electors voting thereon. Section 6. It is hereby found and determined that all formal actions of this Board concerning and relating to the passage of this Resolution were taken in an open meeting of this Board, and that all deliberations of this Board and of any of its committees that resulted in such formal action were in meetings open to the public in compliance with all legal requirements, including Ohio Revised Code Section 121.22. seconded the motion and, after discussion, a roll call vote was taken and the results were: Ayes: Nays: The Resolution.
