TEXAS STATE CONFERENCE Knights of Peter Claver, Ladies Auxiliary December 2014 Dear Brothers and Sisters in Claverism: Since 1990, we have sponsored a food drive in memory of the late Honorable George Mickey Leland, Representative from Texas Congressional 18 th District. The first drive was held in April of 1990, during the Palm Sunday weekend. Once again, we are asking for your participation in the 24 th Annual George Mickey Leland Memorial Food Drive, to be Saturday, March 28, 2015. We are asking every Council and Court to secure your means of collecting foods. This can be done through your local parish, neighborhood store or shopping mall. Please make sure to report this information to the Texas State Conference at the conclusion of the drive. Together we can make this a successful food drive. We encourage you to solicit assistance from your Junior Divisions. Remember, George Mickey Leland died doing humanitarian works during a mission to our Motherland of Africa. St. Peter Claver worked with our ancestors who would have been the first real Knights and Ladies of Peter Claver. This is an opportunity for us to continue his work and the works of our patron saint, St. Peter Claver. Yours Claverism, Gene A. Phillips, Jr. TSC President, Knights Division Rose Ellis TSC President, Ladies Division 22
