Guest Speaker Dave Snyder (Jack Doheny Co.) arranged a Webinar Presentation Operation of the Collection System Equipment Now and in the Future ; A copy of the presentation will be available on our website; 2. Update from WEF Tech John McDonald attended WEF Tech and provided a brief summary and comments on the event;
Keith McCormack also attend and offered the following comments: o There were approximately 18,000 attendees (lower than expected); o However, 92% of the space for next year s conference (New Orleans) is already rented; o WEF is looking to have further involvement in Storm Water Issues. They have created a committee with the goal of Rainwater Harvesting. The committee is scheduled to make recommendation in six (6) months; o The WEF has added new informational links to their website. 3. Discuss the October 1 st Collection System Seminar There were nine (9) vendors, sixty-eight (68) registered attendees and ultimately seventy-five (75) attended; Harry Price (new member) commented that he thought it was well put together; Keith McCormack stated that Pete Roth (HRC) provided positive feedback on the seminar; The financial statements are currently being worked on; By all accounts, it was considered a success. 4. Future Meeting Topics / Tours Because of the economy, vendors have been indicating that would like more notice (six months if possible) on the seminars that we are planning, especially in regards to topics. In lieu of this the Committee would like to work on finalizing the topic for the 2010 seminar at our next meeting. Suggested future committee meeting topics: Gorman Rupp Pumps Presentation; Dubois & Cooper Presentation; Brief Overview of the changes in Oakland & Macomb County (new authority). 5. Nominations for Collection System Person of the Year (2010) Deadline for nominations is December 12, 2009; Vince Astorino (MCS) submitted a nomination of William (Bill) Harriman (Martin Controls Services, Inc. The committee agreed to forward the nomination of William (Bill) Harriman. 6. Other The Committee would like to submit an article to Matters. It was suggested that we contact Jack Doheny Companies for assistance with an article;
Tim Sikma indicated that he has received several requests to join our committee; There was interest by the Committee to obtain a list of persons who are PACP Certified in the State of Michigan for the purpose of distributing with Committee members and possibility posting on the MWEA Website. Tim Sikma indicated that he would look into this further; John McDonald mentioned that he had updated our Contact List and planned on distributing a copy to the Committee members; Tim Sikma presented an article Blue: The Colors of Michigan s New Economy which he felt was interesting and informative. Additional information can be obtained at www.esd.org and a copy of the article has been attached to these minutes; Austin Fletcher indicated that he would like to coordinate a dry run to determine if HRC s video conferencing equipment is compatible with Fishbeck, Thompson, Carr & Huber system; Keith McCormack reminded everyone that MWEA is always looking for nominees for positions on the Board. 7.
