Enter your Italian beauty and volunteer to help put on the show. If you can help, contact Jay at jfuller37@cox.net. To register your car for the show go to www.italiancarshow.com. Fiat of Scottsdale will be a sponsor for the show and plans on bringing a new Alfa Romeo 4C. There will also be great music inside and out at the club. Bring your car.
Hi Alfisti, Presidential Bondo (All the Filler Fit to Print) The Science Channel, SCIHD, has recently had a series on How It s Made: Dream Cars. They had a show on the 4C. You get to see how the monocoque is made and the aluminum engine. I have the show recorded so anyone that hasn t seen the show can at the Progressive Dinner. That would have been enough, but I also get to go with a bunch of my Alfa friends, too. So, we left on September 6 up the Beeline Highway, through Payson, Pine and Strawberry, to lunch at Mormon Lake Lodge. We managed to get there so quickly, it was an Alfa trip after all, that we had to wait for the kitchen to be ready to fix lunch. The next weekend event is the Page Springs wineries on the 27 th of September. Details are to follow and will be posted on the calendar. The fast approaching Italian Car Show is on Saturday, 11 October and has had great attendance by many world class cars. All moneys, beyond expenses, go to the Military Assistance Mission. Hope to see you all there. A week after the Italian Car Show is the Alpine overnight. We take the Coronado Trail, US 191, across the White Mountains. Used to be referred to the Devil s Highway (AZ666). Sounds like fun and it usually is. Ciao, Mark First stop on the trip to Flagstaff and Winslow. Photo by Rick Mahrle Next stop was the Arboretum at Flagstaff. The weather started to deteriorate as we traversed a washboard dirt road for three miles to the entrance. After a short debate about whether walking around the arboretum in the rain made sense, we decided that after negotiating the bad road, we needed to stay. At the Arboretum, we saw a great raptor show. Active Rumors/Notes from the Editor I needed to get out of town. As most of you know, it has been hot in Phoenix. Big news there. Why not a trip to Flagstaff with an overnight stay at the La Posada historic hotel in Winslow. Sounds about right to me. Friendly owl at the raptor show.
The showers passed and we were off to the Turquoise Bar at La Posada in Winslow. The La Posada is a former Fred Harvey hotel that serviced the railroads as passengers headed west in the early part of the Twentieth Century. It has been nicely restored and is remarkably quite even with the trains running by right outside day and night. On historic Route 66 in Winslow. Where else could this possibly be. Photo by Rick Mahrle YOUR AD HERE Outside the La Posada in Winslow. Photo by Rick Mahrle. On Sunday morning, we split up as we usually do for the trip back to Phoenix. Thanks to Bill Greenslade for putting this great trip together for the club. Rick Mahrle Classified ads for Alfas and Alfa parts are still free for members.
