Received News from Judy Johnson(Director of Early childhood)that MSU Moorhead received the federal child care grant that we applied for. The grant is for 4 years and will put approximately $36,000 back into the child care fund. 2. Attended a meeting with Kathy Scott for the Student conduct committee. What's Happening with MSUSA 1. The Penny fellowship scholarship deadline is due Nov 1. For further information please go to www.msusa.net and click on Penny fellowship to apply. 2. Senators Please sign up in the senate office to drive students to the polling place on election day (Nov 5th, Nelson/Grantham circle). Will have reminders next Thursday at the senate meeting. Old Business NONE NewBusiness Motion #24-03 Schneider/Voog Whereas performance arts credits are offered free of charge, Whereas Model UN and Mock Trial are performance activities that compete at regional and national levels Whereas these are 1 credit classes that cost students money Be it resolved that student senate recommend to President Barden that Model UN and Mock Trial be included in the 1 credit performance fee waiver. Motion tabled. Motion #25-03 Schneider/Doerer Whereas Lobby Day is very important for getting student's voices heard at the legislature

Whereas it is important for student leaders to be present at this event Be it resolved a bylaw be adopted stating "Senators are required to attend lobby day. If they do not, they will be assessed an absence (excused or unexcused) to be decided by the president of the student senate Motion Passes Motion #26-03 Leg/Internal Whereas John Neumaier Apartment Complex as of now does not belong to any geographical district Be it resolved the student senate create a geographical district for the John Neumaier Apartment Complex. Motion Passes Unanimously. Motion #27-03 Leg/Internal Whereas Leg/Internal needs money for a sign for election day promotion Be it resolved the student senate allocate $70 for election promotion pending availability of funds. Motion Passes Unanimously. Motion #28-03 Leg/Internal Whereas continuity and information are important ingredients to the operation of the future student senates Be it resolved the student senate adopt the transition bylaw.
