Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport announced on 21 June 15 commitment to a Cultural Protection Fund of 30 million. Stated commitment to ratify 1954 Hague Convention and accede to its two protocols provide training to local professionals in conserving cultural assets, and support programmes using cultural heritage to help local and national economies through rebuilding heritage and fostering opportunities for tourism, research and employment. DCMS announced: The British Museum s Iraqi Heritage Emergency Management Programme is the first programme of the Cultural Protection Fund (28th October 2015). A consultation to determine the shape and scope of the Fund which announced the partnership with the British Council and the expectation that the British Council would manage the Fund.

Outcome 1 - Cultural Protection Cultural heritage under threat is researched, documented, conserved and/or restored to safeguard against permanent loss.
