PARTICIPATION OF SOCIAL ACTORS IN THE ACTIVITIES OF OEA/Ser.E THE SUMMITS OF THE AMERICAS PROCESS ASCA/doc.15/18rev.2 April 12, 2018 10 April 2018 Sheraton Lima Hotel & Convention Center Original: Spanish Lima, Peru DIALOGUE BETWEEN SOCIAL ACTORS AND HIGH-LEVEL GOVERNMENT REPRESENTATIVES Date: April 12, 2018 Time: 9:00 a.m. 12:50 p.m. Place: Sheraton Lima Hotel (Lima, Peru) Av. Paseo de la República 170, Cercado de Lima 15001, Peru The Dialogue between Social Actors and High-Level Government Representatives is part of the effort being undertaken by the Government of Peru, as host country of the VIII Summit and in coordination with the Summits Secretariat of the Americas, to promote and facilitate participation and input by civil society and social actors in the Hemisphere in the activities that will take place prior to the VIII Summit of the Americas. This Dialogue is a forum to give a spokesperson for each official coalition 1/ of the VIII Summit and worker representatives, indigenous peoples, and young people of the Americas an opportunity to present the states participating in the Summits process with their specific recommendations on one of the three sub-themes 2/ under the Summit s official theme: Democratic Governance against Corruption. 1. For the purposes of the Summit, an official coalition means a group of at least 10 organizations and/or social actors with similar positions on at least one of the Summit s three subthemes. The main purpose of working in coalitions is to foster dialogue and constructive deliberation among civil society organizations and social actors in the Americas and their impact on the Summits process. 2. The subthemes of the central theme of the VIII Summit of the Americas are: Subtheme 1: Democratic Governance and Corruption Subtheme 2: Corruption and Sustainable Development Subtheme 3: Aspects of Cooperation, International Institutions, and Public-Private Partnerships

- 2 - The Dialogue will open with welcoming remarks by the Government of the Republic of Peru and the Secretary General of the OAS, after which the coalitions will begin making their presentations, which will be divided into three segments for statements one for each sub-theme of the VIII Summit. Following each segment for statements, the states participating in the Summit Process will have an opportunity to respond. Mindful of how long the Dialogue between the Social Actors and the High-Level Government Representatives is expected to last and the number of coalitions and social actors that will be presenting their proposals, each coalition s statement will be for no more than (3) minutes. Note: The premises of the Sheraton Lima Hotel are accessible to people with disabilities.
