Dr. Nisha Taneja RESEARCH PROFILE Experience in policy-oriented research in India. Broad areas of interest include regional trade, transport, industrial economics and institutional economics. Worked extensively on South Asia, particularly trade and transport facilitation, non-tariff barriers and informal trade. Also worked on various aspects of India-Pakistan trade, Indo-Nepal trade and India-Sri Lanka trade. Published several research papers which have been disseminated in India and abroad at various policy, business and academic forums. Undertaken research projects for the Ministry of Commerce, Government of India, Ministry of Textiles, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Environment and Forests; and for international organizations - Asian Development Bank, UNIDO, The World Bank, London School of Economics, and the South Asia Network of Economic research Institutes (SANEI). Led several research teams within ICRIER and with organizations and consultants in the South Asian region. Recently steered a project on Trade Facilitation in South Asia and on Pruning the Sensitive Lists under SAFTA with an in-house team and consultants in South Asia. Currently leading a project on Strengthening the Textile Sector in South Asia with a team of Consultants in South Asia. Research work key contributor to the SAFTA negotiations. Served on committees set up by the Government of India on Informal Trade, Rules of Origin and Non-tariff Barriers. Research work key contributor to India Pakistan trade negotiations. Consultant with the World Bank on trade and transport competitiveness.
