Youth Exchange News: Addendum Dear Rotarians, you have to read Outbound Abby s letter, below. I shortened it, but her story describes the richness of Rotary Youth Exchange, of travel, of seeing new cultures and adapting to a foreign language, school, families. I could not resist sending this to you Abby just sent it as her last report. Thank you, Edwardsville Rotary Club, for sponsoring Abby. Each of you, enjoy the travel remarks of our soon to return Outbound. Sincerely, Barb Witam, mam na imię Abby Reynolds. I have been in Poland for 9 months now. In a couple of days, I will leave to go back to the U.S. This past year in Poland has been amazing for me. I have really grown up and changed a lot this year. I am very grateful to have met so many nice and amazing people. I am so grateful that both of my host families became my actual families and that I got to be apart of their families too. When I got told that I was going to go to Poland, I was very shocked and surprised. I didn t know what to expect, but I am so glad that I got to stay a year in Poland. Poland has become my home. And I don t want to leave here. I had a trip to the Czech Republic with Rotary. We went sight seeing around Prague and we went to a castle. This past week was my birthday. The day of my birthday, my friend from Slovakia (Ivka) came to visit me. I am so glad that she came because last year she was an exchange student in our district. When she stayed at my house I took her around Warsaw. We visited the Culture of Palace, went to Old Town, different parts of Warsaw, watched soccer with my family, and went around Piaseczno to see my school. She left this past Saturday and it was sad, but she will study at a University in the U.S. So, I will plan to visit her next year. On Sunday, I went to Ela s house (the lady that toke me to France). I had dinner with her family. It was really nice and I enjoyed talking to them about how their son is doing in Taiwan on exchange. I am so glad that this year I got the opportunity to meet so many amazing people and I would like to thank everyone who has helped me. Thank you to Barb, Musonda, Mrs. Joan, my dad, my mom, and my new families. I wish I could stay longer, but I know that I have to go home soon. I am preparing for that day, but I don t want that day to come because I feel that I will be leaving my new home. For now, goodbye and see you next time in the U.S. ROTARY DISTRICT 6460 4-WAY TODAY - PAGE 8
