Gaby Schelle (GS) and Cheryl Brown (CB) from the IHE office had been invited. Copies of these minutes will also be forwarded to GS, CB and all Executive Board members. The meeting was primarily called to: Consider the format and content of the 2016/2017 IHE Yearbook due to be published after the June 2016 National AGM in Yorkshire. This book will be published by Alad Ltd, owners of Highways Magazine. Also to review the Membership Welcome Pack, Website requirements for the Members-only area, How-to Guides, Schemes Corporate Partners, and a draft letter to Members as discussed in paragraph 4.4(a) of the last R&MS meeting, held in London on the 21 October 2015. Action By: 1. Welcome Mark Youngman welcomed all to the meeting and noted apologies. The Committee were advised that this was an additional meeting and both these minutes and the previous two meetings would be taken at the next meeting being held in Edinburgh on the 25 February 2016. The National Highway Engineering Academy (NHEA) would be launched the previous evening. MY - 1 -

Previous Minutes from June and October 2015 meetings As noted above, the previous two sets of minutes would be taken at the next meeting being held in Edinburgh on the 25 February 2016. Consequently, there were no matters arising brought forward. MY 4. Recent / Ongoing Activities 4.1 Membership Figures: Membership Figure currently stood at 3,168, that was after 114 were removed in December, many having joined free at exhibitions etc. Of the above 3,164 there are: Fellow 1449 Member 931 Associate 539 Affiliate 15 Apprentices 17 Total (paying) 2951 The remaining 213 are FREE: Hon FIHE 20 Founder Members 9 Student 184 Of these 3,164 members 1151 are registered with the Engineering Council with another 421 at stage 1: CEng 32 IEng 926 (Stage. 1. 27) EngTech 193 (Stage. 1. 394) Total 1572 In December M&Q besides confirming the 114 who were removed they approved: 4 new CEng s, 2 new IEng s, 2 RSA s and 1 Professional Certificate. MY advised the meeting that the National Highway Engineering Academy (NHEA) was being developed in a similar manner to the rail industry s National Skills Academy for Rail Engineering (NSARE) The next Council meeting in Edinburgh is now being held on 24 & 25-2 -
February 2016 - see Richard Hayes E-mail dated 05 January for further details. 4.2 2016 / 2017 IHE Year Book: The committee went through the 2015 Year Book and when Richard joined later, updates were made. The committee used the 2015 Year Book as a template but being aware that last AGM John Nightingale progressed from his first year in office to his second year, whereas in 2016 John hands over the Presidency to Tony Kirby. The page order will change as noted at Octobers R&MS committee meeting in that the format would change from the current 44 pages in an oversized A5 publication to an (IHE standard) A4 format with a minimum content of 16 pages. Adverts are therefore likely to share a page with a small item. Page 01 Front cover: To use a similar picture format to the 2015 Year Book without reference to @ 50 and change year to 2016 / 2017. Page 3 List of contents: To review as required in conjunction with Highways Magazine. In the past Helen Pickett from IHE s South Western Branch (SWB) has assisted DW with school visits, etc. Another name mentioned was Michelle Fillingham from (SWB) and IHE s Signals Forum may be another person to contact. Although preparations can be made for the 2016/2017 IHE Yearbook in advance of the 51 st AGM at Beverley, Yorkshire on the 21 st June 2016 (With all Branch AGM s scheduled to be completed by 31 st May.) a lot of work will be required immediately after the AGM and the following days IHE Council meetings. It was understood that racing takes place at Beverley on the 21 st June. GM MY The outline was discussed to be developed 4.4 Website requirements for members-only area It is envisaged that the updated IHE website will give members a more personal service discussions centred on this. Some Branch information programme of events etc will now be shared on the Open area of the website Cheryl is already doing this for Mercia s Awards event and South Western s AGM and Awards event. 4.5 How-to Guides: The group discussed new guides: Winter Services Traffic Signals (Simon Morgan) Inclusion ((Ellie Gormley) Transport (Highways (ALAD) Andy Davies) These will all be published in A4 both separately and as a composite collection. 4.6 Schemes Corporate Partners: Need was identified to bring on more Corporate Partners, especially to run alongside Accredited courses. 4.7 Draft letter to Members (James October 2015 proposal): There was no feedback at this time.
