Quarterly Dashboard PROTECTION The number of Syrian refugees in the region rose to 5.26 million at the end of. There are now over 3.2 million Syrian refugees registered refugees in, over 1 million in, some 650,000 in, almost 245,000 in and above 120,000 in, indicating the generosity of host countries across the region. Highlights of the Protection across the region in September include: In, structured and sustained psycho-social support (PSS) and child protection programmes were extended to a total of 1,878 children, adolescents and youth. Multi-sectoral case management services assisted 573 children, adolescents and youth. The number of newly registered Syrian unaccompanied children continues to rise, standing now at 36. During the reporting period, 3RP partners continued to focus on prevention and response to sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) incidents. 31 Syrian SGBV survivors were identified and multi-sectoral response services, including quality individual case management, access to emergency medical care, psychosocial counselling and legal assistance. In, a total of 726 household-level protection assessments were conducted for 2,608 Syrian refugees resulting in referrals, including multipurpose cash assistance for 381 cases, winterization kits for 90 cases, legal assistance for 58 cases and registration for 105 cases. Quarterly Dashboard FOOD SECURITY So far in 2017, food sector partners have reached approximately 2.51 million individuals with food assistance through cash, voucher or in-kind modality, this represents almost 100 per cent of the overall target for 2017. Over 7,850 individuals also food and agricultural livelihoods support. Some highlights of the Food Security across the region in September include: In, some 490,000 Syrian refugees residing in camps and communities benefited from the voucher programme via cash based transfers. Around 108,000 refugees residing in camps and 207,000 extremely vulnerable refugees living in communities USD 28.2 per person per month, while 175,000 refugees in the host community categorized as vulnerable to food security USD 14.1 per person per month. The school meals programme has been resumed in both camps in, reaching around 26,000 schoolchildren attending formal education via date bar distribution. Quarterly Dashboard EDUCATION As at the end of September, some 930,000 Syrian children across the region are enrolled in formal education in schools located in camps and host communities. Additionally, over 81,500 Syrian children are enrolled in non-formal education. Some highlights of the Education across the region in September include: The new 2017-2018 school year has started. In, Syrian children have access to 45 camp schools located in 17 school complexes. To allow children immediate access to school and as an interim measure, the number of double-shifted schools was increased from 197 to 206. More catch-up and drop-out centres are also being established. Since August 2017, the Learning for All campaign reached 100,000 school-aged children including 15,000 out-of-school children. In, prior to the official opening of public schools for the new academic year, 3RP partners distributed school supplies to 450,000 Lebanese and Syrian refugee children in support of their enrolment in 1,282 Lebanese public schools. In, as of end September over 588,500 Syrian refugee children were enrolled in temporary education centres and Turkish public schools across the country, a 23 per cent increase compared to 2016. Quarterly Dashboard HEALTH AND NUTRITION By the end of September, approximately 2.14 million primary health care consultations were provided, and over 133,000 referrals were made to secondary or tertiary health care, representing 56 per cent and 58 per cent of the respective 2017 targets. The number of health facilities supported across the region stands now at 235, also 3,586 health care staff has been trained and over 677,000 children have been immunized. Some highlights of the Health and Nutrition across the region in September include: 3RP partners in have provided 8,628 curative and preventive primary healthcare consultations to Syrian refugees. Among these, 3,306 patients were followed up and monthly treatment for non-communicable diseases. Beyond the primary healthcare level, other 949 referrals were made to secondary, tertiary and emergency care were provided to those in need among them 57 referrals were life-saving emergencies. In, 19,676 primary healthcare consultations were conducted in the nine camps. 972 patients were referred from the camps to secondary and tertiary health facilities. Quarterly Dashboard BASIC NEEDS The continued strategic priority for the Basic Needs is to provide assistance to meet the ongoing basic needs of Syrian refugees, based on a multi-sectoral household profiling and identification methodology, specific to each country. As of September, 242,149 households have core relief items in-kind, which is 108 per cent of the targeted population. Approximately 1.9 million people benefited from cash assistance to families and over 203,600 households seasonal support through cash or in-kind assistance. Some highlights of the Basic Needs across the region in September include: The Basic Needs Working Group in provided around USD 6,676,732 worth of regular cash and non-food items to vulnerable beneficiaries from the refugee and host community. Quarterly Dashboard SHELTER During 2017, some 49,800 households living inside and outside camps have been reached with shelter assistance and shelter upgrades. Some highlights of the Basic Needs across the region in September include: In, some 38 per cent of the Syrian refugee population lives in camps, where the sector s main interventions take place. In camps almost 97 per cent (17,240) of shelter units were improved (by including concrete slabs, kitchens, family latrines and showers, walls of 60 cm height and a roof with tent) and works continue for the remaining 3 per cent (589 shelter units). Furthermore, 13,499 shelter units (75 per cent) have been upgraded (by raising walls to 2.8 m high and changing the roof-tent to a weatherproof roof). So far, four quick impact projects out of 14 (six health, three WASH, three education and one community-based project) were completed and the remaining are under implementation to which the shelter sector has provided technical support and has monitored the implementation. Quarterly Dashboard WASH So far in 2017, over 1.17 million individuals have benefited from access to adequate quantity of safe water through improved longer-term water systems. Approximately 332,265 people have gained access to appropriate sanitation facilities and services, and over 506,600 people have access to adequate quantity of safe water through temporary provision. Highlights of the WASH across the region in September include: In, the construction of the Zaatari water network reached 37 per cent completion by late September, including 137 kilometres of pipeline for the water network and 26 kilometres of wastewater network. In Azraq camp, 15,079 adult hygiene kits were distributed to 6,649 families, benefitting more than 34,000 people. Kits were distributed to families benefitting 2,000 people in vulnerable households to improve the hygienic conditions in temporary settlements. QuarterlyDashboard LIVELIHOODS & SOCIAL COHESION Since the start of 2017, Livelihoods partners assisted 19,136 refugees and host community members with short-term and/or long-term employment opportunities and 74,803 youth and adults in increasing their employability through job training, internships, job placement and language courses. In addition, 44,990 host community members and refugees have participated in community based activities to promote social cohesion. Highlights across the region in September include: In Erbil, Syrian refugees and members of the host community successfully completed three-months training courses in one of the following categories: English, Cooking or Mechanics, to improve/acquire new skills, to help them to obtain employment. In Northern Bekka,, four harvesters were delivered to farmers in the area to increase productivity (especially wheat and green wheat).
