Please be aware that ur reviewers are vlunteers wh wrk as full time paralegals. Be sure yu understand what dcumentatin needs t be included s that ur reviewers are nt inundated with large vlumes f unnecessary dcumentatin. Our reviewers have the right t reject applicatins that are deemed t be t vluminus. Carry-frward CLE Credits Any carry-frward credits earned by the Pa.C.P. pursuant t the Pa.C.P. s previus apprved renewal applicatin will be reflected n the Pa.C.P. s current wallet card. (If yur current wallet card des nt indicate any carry-frward CLE credits, yu d nt have any.) In rder t receive credit fr the carry-frward CLE credits n yur next renewal applicatin, yu must list the number f carry-frward credits (as indicated n yur wallet card) n the dedicated (first) line f the CLE Reprting Frm AND attach a cpy f the wallet card shwing the carryfrward credits. NOTE: If this is the first time yu are submitting a renewal applicatin, yu will nt have any carry-frward credits t reprt.
Preapprved Presentatins If the Pa.C.P. attends a curse, seminar r prgram which has been preapprved fr CLE credits by the Keystne Alliance r ne f its preapprved prviders 1 (NFPA, NALA and PBI), the Pa.C.P. may nly need t submit his r her Prf f Attendance at the time f renewal. Hwever, nte that the said Prf f Attendance must specifically include the fllwing infrmatin: participant s name (i.e., yur name) the title f the presentatin the name f the speaker(s) the date and lcatin f the presentatin the number and type (substantive r ethics) f CLE credits fr which the curse, seminar r prgram was preapprved the name f the entity (Keystne Alliance, NFPA, NALA r PBI) which preapprved the CLE Credits If the Prf f Attendance frm prvided des nt cntain all f the infrmatin listed abve, yu will need t include a cpy f the prvider s flyer, curse brchure r curse descriptin t supply the missing infrmatin. If the prvider des nt ffer a Prf f Attendance frm fr nn-attrneys, please use the Prf f Attendance frm available in the Legal Resurces Sectin f the website. This frm must be cmpleted by yu and signed by the prgram mderatr r by yur supervising attrney r ffice manager. CLE Credits Sught at Time f Renewal Additinal dcumentatin is required at the time f renewal fr any curses, seminars r prgrams which were nt preapprved fr CLE credits by the Keystne Alliance r a preapprved prvider. The type f dcumentatin required will vary depending upn the surce f the requested credits as fllws: Curses/Seminars/Prgrams When applying fr CLE credit hurs fr seminar/curses attended (including webinars, webcasts, and n-demand prgrams), the Pa.C.P. must submit the fllwing: a descriptin f the seminar tpic and a cpy f the agenda r an utline f the presentatin*; 1 Preapprved means that the curse prvider btained apprval fr CLE credits prir t advertising/presenting its curse; the number f CLE credits fr which a curse has been preapprved will be nted in the advertisement, as will the name f the entity which has preapprved the credits. If a curse is nt preapprved by the Keystne Alliance r ne f its preapprved prviders as nted abve, then the Pa.C.P. will need t seek apprval fr CLE credits fr the curse at the time f renewal. This frm must be cmpleted by yu and signed by the prgram mderatr r by yur supervising attrney r ffice manager. CLE credit hurs shall nt be granted fr less than 30 minutes f instructin. There is n restrictin n the number f CLE credit hurs which may be btained in this manner. Cllege Curses When applying fr CLE credit hurs fr cllege curses, the Pa.C.P. must submit the fllwing: a cpy f the curse title and descriptin; a list f faculty names and credentials; the curse syllabus; and a cpy f yur final grade (a passing grade f B r better is required in rder t btain CLE credit). A maximum f 8 CLE Credits may be awarded fr a cmpleted cllege curse. If requesting ethics credits based upn an ethical cmpnent f the curse, prf f the time dedicated t ethics must be prvided (this may be indicated in the curse syllabus, r the Pa.C.P. may need t btain additinal dcumentatin including but nt limited t a signed statement frm the instructr). Self Study Prgrams When applying fr CLE credit hurs fr self study prgrams, the Pa.C.P. must submit the fllwing: a cpy f the prmtinal brchure; the curse utline;
a list f faculty names and credentials; sample exam questins; a cpy f yur final test scre indicating a grade f B r better; and the certificate f cmpletin. A self study prgram is a curse f study in which the Paralegal is self-directed, i.e., wrking at his/her wn pace withut direct supervisin r attendance in a classrm. The self study prgram must include a final examinatin cnsisting f a minimum f 10 test questins fr each CLE credit hur. The paralegal must crrectly answer 80% f the questins t receive CLE credits. The number f CLE credits awarded is at the discretin f the Credentialing Cmmittee based upn the fllwing criteria: listening and/r viewing time fr audi, vide, CD, DVD and/r n-line mediums; written materials including bks and seminar manuals which will be assessed at 50 pages per hur; and the test scre n the final examinatin. NOTE: Self-study prgrams are nt CLE seminars taken n-line instead f in persn. On-line seminars are included in Curses, Seminars, and Prgrams. A maximum f 3 CLE credit hurs may be btained in this manner. Teaching, Speaking Or Guest Lecturing When applying fr CLE credit hurs fr teaching, speaking r guest lecturing, the Pa.C.P. must submit the fllwing: a cpy f the curse advertisement r seminar brchure; a descriptin f the seminar tpic, including areas f substantive law r prfessinal issues t be presented; r a cpy f the seminar utline r agenda; a cpy f the speaker's resume r descriptin f the speaker's relevant qualificatins; if ffered, the number f credits available t attendees; and number f hurs/minutes f the engagement. The number f CLE credit hurs t be awarded in this categry will be based upn the length and cntent f the presentatin and may include credit hurs fr preparatin time. The number f CLE credits awarded fr preparatin time will be up t tw times the number f CLE credits which wuld be awarded t an attendee, but the ttal number f CLE credits awarded t the speaker may nt exceed the maximum number f CLE credits which may be awarded in this categry. The number f CLE credits awarded is at the discretin f the Credentialing Cmmittee. A maximum f 8 CLE credit hurs may be btained in this manner. CLE credit is prvided nly ne time fr any seminar/curse presentatin.
Publishing Articles When applying fr CLE credit hurs fr publishing an article, the Pa.C.P. must submit the fllwing: the article(s) fr cnsideratin; prf the article was published; and the date f publicatin. The number f CLE credit hurs t be awarded in this categry will be based upn the length and cntent f the article. The number f CLE credit hurs granted is at the discretin f the Credentialing Cmmittee. T receive credit, the article must be published during the Pa.C.P.'s Certificatin Perid. A maximum f 2 CLE credit hurs may be btained in this manner.
