GLYMPH (Ph.D.) AMENDMENT OF RULE 784, WORK RELATED ABSENCES (FINAL APPROVAL) EXPLANATION: The proposed amendments are the result of a periodic review of Personnel Commission rules and reflect minor editorial changes to the rule that do not alter meaning or intent. It is recommended that final approval be given to the amendment of Rule 784 effective January 26, 2015. AMENDMENT: 784 WORK RELATED ABSENCES A. Attendance at Hearings of Worker's Compensation Appeals When an injured District classified employee appeals the decision of the District or its duly appointed agent relative to a worker's compensation claim and when, in the interests of justice and of protecting the legal rights of the injured employee, it is desirable that other District employees attend the hearing of the appeal, they may attend without losst of salary. Arrangements for their attendance shall be made by the Accounting and Disbursements Division or its agent. B. District Employment Procedures Upon at least two days' notice to their immediate supervisor, a classified employee shall be permitted to take any examination and to participate in other District employment procedures during working hours without loss of pay or other penalty. If less than two days' notice is provided, permission to participate without loss of pay is subject to approval by the employee s immediate supervisor. C. Epidemics and Emergencies A regular employee shall be paid regular salary for any period during which the employee is unable to work because of closure toof the work site due to quarantine, epidemic, or other health or safety conditions. To be eligible for such pay, the employee must be able and willing to perform reasonable and suitable duties. The administration shall endeavor to assign the employee to other District worksites during such closureswork elsewhere. In the absence of specific authorization by the Board of Education, paid leave for absences because of epidemics and emergencies shall not be granted to employees with limited-term status only.
