Central Committee Member Andrew Leonard was elected Treasurer of Linn County Democrats. 2. Motion to approve the Draft Minutes of the April 24 2018 meeting of the Linn County Democratic Central Committee as amended was moved, seconded, and carried on a voice vote. 3. Motion to approve the April 2017 Treasurer s Report was moved, seconded, and carried on a voice vote. 4. Joey Zahorick (CR 34; Member) and Wendy Cooper (Alternate, TGRA) were elected to the Central Committee on a voice vote. I. Call to Order a. A regular monthly meeting of the Linn County Democratic Central Committee was held on May 23, 2018, at the Hiawatha Community Center in Hiawatha, Iowa. Chair Bret Nilles called the meeting to order at 7:04 PM, and Michael McGree, Recording Secretary, was present. A quorum was present. 24 25 26 27 28 II. III. Pledge of Allegiance a. Cash on hand: $38,035.42 b. Pass the hat i. This fundraising activity generated $291 in donations from the Assembly. Finance Chair: Sarah Stutler reporting a. Ms. Stutler reported on planning for upcoming Linn County fundraising events. Committee Updates a. Affirmative Action: Committee Chair Lindsey Ellickson reporting i. Mrs. Ellickson reported that she continues to attend constituency caucus meetings to increase her understanding of issue and initiative of significance to these caucuses. ii. Ms. Ellickson also discussed the benefits of caucus membership. b. Disability Caucus: Caucus Chair Catherine Crist reporting i. Ms. Crist reported on accessibility issues as they pertain to the State Convention. 1. She cited Linn County s Convention as a model for the state. ii. Ms. Crist stated that volunteers were needed to act as Accessibility Assistant for the State Convention. c. Labor Caucus: Joey Zahorick reporting Page 4 of 6

Veterans Caucus: Caucus Chair Kevin Techau reporting i. Mr. Techau reported on continuing efforts to organize the Linn County Veterans Caucus as a standing constituency caucus. e. Stonewall Caucus: Caucus Chair Harvey Ross reporting i. Mr. Ross reported that Stonewall Caucus will meet on the 2 nd Wednesday in June and July. ii. Pridefest is coming up July 7. iii. Mr. Ross announced he will resign as Chair of Stonewall Caucus after PrideFest. New Business/Announcements a. Primary Election June 5 i. Kevin Burgess, IDPP 1 st District Organizer, reported on activities relating to the Primary election. ii. Valerie Smith reported on absentee voting voter registration, and voter ID requirements. b. Additional items of New Business: i. Matthew Clay reported on an initiative to audit the State Central Committee election held at 1 st District Convention. ii. Ashley Vanorney provided event announcements and spoke about decorum in campaigns. iii. Dale Todd spoke about City Council service and an upcoming event at the History Center on June 2. Page 5 of 6
