CALL TO ORDER: The Regular Meeting of the Houston Parks & Recreation Commission was held on Thursday, February 01, 2018 at Houston City Hall, 13878 W. Armstrong Road, Houston Alaska. Chair Hartley called the meeting to order at 6:15 pm. II. ROLL CALL: Commission Members Present and establishing a quorum were: Vice-Chair Adam Rein Chair Christian Hartley Commissioner Robert Lyons Commissioner Brittany Mohar Commissioner Katie Stavick City of Houston Staff and Officials in Attendance: Public Works Deputy Director, Ray Russell Council Member, F.Jay Kruger III. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE AND INVOCATION: Jessie Meybin led the pledge of allegiance. There was no Invocation. Chair Hartley opened the Public Comments at 6:16 pm. IV. PUBLIC COMMENTS: There were no Public Comments. Chair Hartley closed the Public Comments at 6:16 pm. V. APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA: MOTION: Commissioner Mohar moved to approve the Agenda of Thursday, February 02, 2018. MOTION: Commissioner Mohar moved to amend the agenda by striking February 02 and inserting 01. She also amended the time striking 7:00 pm and inserting 6:15 pm. DISCUSSION: There was no discussion. DISCUSSION: There was no discussion. VOTE: There were none opposed and the Regular Meeting Minutes of December 07, 2017 was approved. IX. PERSONS TO BE HEARD: There was no Persons To Be Heard. X. PUBLIC COMMENTS: Vice-Chair Rein spoke on the Questions and Answers under New Business #1. DISCUSSION: There was discussion among the Commissioners and audience on each question and answer listed from the meeting with Mayor Thompson. Some of the discussion brought up more questions and the main items were: Lighting Options Solar Power Motion Lights Spot Lights. Plowing-Fuel Cost-Equipment Rate-Operator Rate-City Water Truck Cost. Repairs for the Buildings-Cost of Trash Cans or Dumpster-Cost to Empty Dumpster- Cost of Toilet Paper-Who will stock and clean bathrooms. Budget for Parks & Recreation-Separate Checking Account- Cost to set up Fee Schedule with staff. Chair Hartley and Commissioner Stavik will work with City Clerk for Facebook and Instagram. Banners-Signs- Cost or Donation. Trail Grooming-Commissioner Mohar will call some vendors to donate their time and let them know it can be tax deductible for their time. Asking the Council for startup funds for maintenance. MOTION: Chair Hartley moved to have Vice-Chair Rein to add items to the Question and Answers and meet with the Mayor. VOTE: There were none opposed and the motion was approved. XV. XVI. COMMISION AND COMMISSION STAFF COMMENTS: Commissioner Mohar-Very excited and happy. Looking forward to more progress. Vice-Chair Rein- Very good work session. He will submit the additions to the Mayor. Thanked everyone for all their help. Commissioner Lyons-Get people involved and the word will spread. Commissioner Stavik-Met with City Clerk on Bear Paw Park. She is looking at different communities and how they run their park. City Clerk is working on setting a time for her to meet with Linda about grants. Grant seeking is important. Chair Hartley-We are moving forward and this was a good meeting. Need to work on summer projects and Bear Paw Park. ADJOURNMENT MOTION: Chair Harley moved to adjourn the meeting.
