For those that have been at field recently, you probably noticed a little relief in the heat index. I for one welcome it! At this month s meeting, we held nominations for the 2017 officers. This year, we actually have two members running for same position! It is always good when members are seeking to help out the club. Whether it is volunteering at an event, helping someone to learn to fly or becoming part of the executive committee, it is what makes this club great. With that said the official nominations are: Me President David Dewitt VP Dan Hudson Treasurer Ian Clark Secretary Nominated For Director (3 year term) Terry Baker Mike Vascellaro Per the IRCC by-laws, a ballot may be cast via postal mail or at the November meeting in person. Any mail in ballots must be received at the Post office box address prior to meeting so in this case that would be Nov 4th, 2016. In this newsletter is an official ballot along with the address to send it to. Of course, we much rather have you come to meeting but if you can t please make sure your ballot reaches the PO box by Nov 4 rd. Counting of ballots will take place at the meeting! In other news, I am happy to report that my 1/3 Stearman PT-17 has been completed and test flown! It did great and will be making an appearance at the 12oclock high event and of course our Golden Age of Flight event in November! The particulars are: 1/3 Balsa USA Stearman PT-17 in Navy trainer scheme Moki 250cc radial engine All Futaba Servos 32x18 Falcon propeller Wingspan = 116 Length = 92 Weight = 51 pounds. Covered in Solartex, pinked tape and simulated rib stitching, automotive base coat, clear coat. 7 wheels, functional struts. I plan to have it out at the November meeting for anyone wanting to see it but until then - Here is a pic of it right before test flight! Thanks to everyone who helped me with it!! A motion was made and passed to accept the September minutes as posted in the club newsletter, PROPWASH. Visitors and New Members: There were three new members during the month of September. They are Doug Huston, Glenn Morse & Randy Bridge. Treasurers Report: Gary Snyder reported that we have $xx,xxx.xx in our checking account. Combined with our CD we have a total of $xx,xxx.xx. We had $480.00 in income and $1800.00 in expenses during September. We are $x,xxx.xx ahead of what we had at this time last year. Membership Report: So far we have 137 members. Gary also reminded us that new members and those who have been out of the club for over a year may join for $100.00. This is a one-time deal. Field Maintenance Report: Mark Durkac reported that all is well at this time. The field mowing is being done by Jim Giallombardo and Gary Snyder. Newsletter Report: David Raff said he welcomes any and all articles members would like to send him. New Business: Because there seems to be a growing issue of guests flying without their sponsoring member being present, our policy pertaining to this was discussed. The following motions were made and passed: 1) Guests may only fly two times a year. This was changed from 5 times. 2) The extra fee of $50.00 per year for a turbine waiver was dropped. The following have put their names in and will be voted on at the next meeting. Terry Baker Mike Vascellaro Club member Larry Hammond just had shoulder surgery and is doing well. 50/50: $92 dollars was collected. Mike Vascellaro had the winning ticket. Mike chose to donate it back to the club. Sportsmanship Award: Mike V. accepted the award for his gift back to the club. A motion was made and passed to close the September meeting.
Below is the official rule of the IRCC governing Election By Ballot B. The election of officers and directors shall be held at the regular club meeting in November. The total ballot count shall include all mail-in ballots received at the clubs mailing address by the meeting date, as well as ballots cast at the meeting - only one vote per member. A majority of the votes cast is required for election. If no candidate receives a majority, a run-off election between the two candidates receiving the most votes shall be held at the December meeting. Term of Office The President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer are to be elected for a one (1) year term by the club membership. The Directors are to be elected for a three (3) year term by the club membership. Officers shall serve from the first (1st) day of January to the last day of December through the calendar year following their election. A Director shall serve from the first (1st) day of January to the last day of December for three (3) consecutive years following election. Directors may not succeed themselves, or fill unexpired terms until a period of one year has passed after serving as a director. The Nominees for each of the positions for Club Officer s and the Open Director seat are listed on the ballot to the right. Please check the box next to your choice and place in the Ballot Box at the field at the November meeting. Mail-In Ballots must be received at the clubs P.O. Box 6662 Lakeland, Fl. 33807 no later than Friday Nov. 4 th 2016.
